The Day It Snowed in India
It never snowed in India. It never snowed there, never, nada, no way, period. But it did this year. No one
could explain it. Not a single soul in the village. So, instead of questioning it, the villagers played in it.
Everyone enjoyed it, except one girl.
You see, it never snowed in India, but it did 7 years ago. That was the year that the girl's father died from a
tiger attack. When the girl woke up on the day it snowed, see instantly frowned. She remembered the tiger
that ended her father's life. She shuddered due to the fact the tiger knew her, knew her name, and knew
she was called Shanti.
Desire loved snow days. She was leaning against the fence that separated the village from the jungle. A coil
dropped down on her shoulders, forming into a noose. To any other person, they would scream in fear, but
Desire knew it was only Kaa.
"I'm freezing my tail off out here," complained the python. Desire chuckled then sighed.
"Climb in," she said as she opened her jacket. Kaa slithered in, wrapping himself around Desire's waist.
"Better?"
"Much," said Kaa as we snuggled against Desire's stomach. Since Mowgli was sick with a cold, Kaa and
Desire decided to go into the jungle with Shanti. They both knew, however, that Shanti hated snow, but
they both came up with a plan to force Shanti to come with them.
Shanti lay in bed freezing. She just couldn't get the past out of her mind. She then heard someone come in
her room. Expecting to find Mowgli or Desire to be in the room, she turned over to shoo them away.
Instead she was greeted by colored circles. Shanti was unaware that she was being coiled up and dragged
into the jungle.
When Shanti woke up in the middle of a clearing, she was able to put two and two together by looking at
the eager faces of Desire and Kaa. Her expression was annoyance.
"How dare you guys?" she said, "I'm going to go back to the village and wonder how I became friends with
either of you". As she walked away, one of Kaa's coils wrapped around her ankle.
"Let go!"
"No, Shanti" said Desire, "Because Kaa and I are going to teach you a lesson today."
"What kind of 'lesson'?"
"We're going to teach you how to let go of the past and enjoy yourself," Desire said as she detached the
coil from her. She then picked up a handful of snow and sprinkled it all over Shanti.
"Quit it!" she shouted as she threw a horribly made snowball at Desire, which missed.
"Shanti let me show you how to make a real snowball," Desire said as she made a perfect round snowball.
After admiring her work, she chunked it at Shanti, hitting her right in the chest. Shanti couldn't help but
laugh. She sort of had an epiphany. It wasn't the snows fault her father was dead. She then stood up with
another snowball.
"This means war, you know."
Kaa and Desire smiled, and in a split second snowballs pegged everyone as a huge snowball fight erupted.
After being pegged about a hundred times, Shanti was too tired to continue. Everyone agreed that it was
time for bed. Desire picked up the exhausted Shanti horizontally and carried her back to the village.
"Good night, Shanti," Desire said as she placed the girl in her bed. She could barely her Shanti mumble a
good night. She then walked back to her house to check on her sick brother…
Everyone agrees that Christmas miracles can happen. Shanti's day was one of the finest examples of one.
Everyone loved what had happened. But Shanti was pretty much the first person who loved the day it
snowed in India.
Awesome, is it not? Please R&R
