Author's Note: Some time, and this one Evangelion fiction later, here I am! No, seriously.. I don't know why I wrote this, like some of my other works, it just kinda.. Did it's own thing. I typed this up at my Work-Base Learning site. (I'll be going to college in a few months!) So it may have come out a little weird. I'm not using the same application that I usually work with. Enjoy. (I'll probably be re-writing this in the very near future, I really don't like it as is..)

Author's Note(2): Sorry for any errors and the like, I still don't have a Beta, so... I'm -not- perfect.

Author's Note(3): Also, now that I think about, I'm not sure if this song really fits, listening too it brings to mind both Rei and Shinji, for me, but still.. Come to your own conclusion. And I suggest listening to the song while reading.

Two hands grasp tightly amid the fountains of the Government facility known as NERV.

Serafina stares at the stars,
and says her prayers,
in awe of what she see's.
I could never see the things she see's.

A broken pair of glasses lay shattered on a cold gray floor, abandoned.

And she's always far away,
in some other place.
She likes to make believe
I can't stand to see her in such pain.

A set of crimson eyes lift to meet the visage of a small, black-haired male, a smile gracing the soft lips, unaccustomed to such a take of her features.

Even when the world is pushing down,
she stands so tall she can almost touch the clouds.

"Why do you pilot the Eva's?" A soft question spoke repeatedly through the halls of two minds, diverging into a single synapse, a bright light flooding through intertwined bodies.

Serafina's slipping away,
and it's all okay
She knows she's got faith to guide her way.
Serafina's gone to sleep,
and I don't know what to say
I try to speak but it's already much too late.

"Our existence." A single answer, with one small breath. Voices barely heard among the whispering winds.

And she knows she's lost it all,
but you can't tell.
She loves every day.
I can't see the use in living that way.

Anger, hate, fear, courage, hope, faith.. Love.. Emotions, too many. Overloading.

"I don't understand."

And she says I've gone astray,
she prays for me.
She says that she believes.
I don't need to believe the things she believes.

Soft silver pearls stream unchecked over a pale face, blue hair. Human, yet not.

I will never sleep again.

The black-haired boy again, reaching up with a comforting, gentle hand, stroking away the liquid gems.

"Shinji."

"Rei."

I will never dream again.
