Loyal

Rosalie found it hard to believe that Jake hadn't seen through the insults yet. The insults were just a cover-up.

A cover-up for her real feelings, her impossible, but still present, love for Jacob.

The love started when she saw Jacob's undying loyalty to Bella, even when she chose a vampire over him.

Rosalie wanted someone to be loyal to her in that way.

Emmett didn't count as being loyal, he felt bonded to Rosalie because she saved him, had him turned into one of them. His loyalty wasn't even equal to a hundredth of Jacob's.

The insults were just a cover-up, of course. No one could know about this. Especially not Jacob.

She wanted Jacob's loyalty.

But she would never tell him.
