A/N

The idea for this ficlet popped into my mind minutes after watching the trailer for Mass Effect 2 and is obviously based on it. Nothing major, just kind of a method of getting over the 'wow factor' and the...interesting revelations it presented. And if this site hadn't had the login glitch, it would have been posted much earlier as well. A minor note though, in that the trailer was viewed at Joystiq rather than BioWare's site, which seems to imply that the information on Shepard is being accessed from a Cerberus database rather than an Alliance one. All things considered, I wouldn't be surprised.

Edit: It's worth mentioning that the wording was loosely based on a section in the novelization of Revenge of the Sith. However, I feel there's enough difference to warrant posting in the sense of slightly different themes. And given BioWare's history and Karpyshyn's writing for Star Wars, it's probably fair to say that a few similarities exist between the two universes.

They lose because the victories of light are irrelevant. They lose because the greatest light casts the darkest shadow. They lose because the dark is eternal, has always existed, is always waiting for the light when it reaches creation's dark corners and to smother it upon the light's arrival.
