Sequel to Letters, Autobiography, Futile, Worst Day and Health.

"Did you even taste this?" Sookie asked, rather angrily. "It tastes like bile soaked in vinegar!"

"Well maybe that' what it is!" Luke shouted back, starting their semi-annual food argument.

"Oh this can only be good," Michel muttered, slightly amused.

But Lorelai was no longer paying attention to the argument, no matter how humorous it would no doubt be.

Something considerably more important had just dawned upon her.

The loud, obnoxious voices around her faded until they were little more that white noise. She could barely think, barely breathe.

It felt like eternity before she was broken from her trance, though in reality, it can't have been more than a few minutes.

"Lorelai?!" Luke and Sookie shouted in unison, both trying desperately to get her attention. Michel was just watching from the sidelines, as usual.

"What?" she asked, shaking herself from her reverie.

"Are you okay?" Luke asked, sitting down in the chair next to her and handing her a napkin. It was only then that she realized that tears were flowing freely down her face.

"Yeah," she said, taking the napkin and carefully wiped the tears away. "No."

"What happened sweetie?" Sookie asked.

"She's gone," she whispered.

"What? Who's gone?"

"Rory. She's gone. She's dead."

"Oh, you don't know that," Luke assured her. "You just gotta believe that she's okay."

"No. She's gone. I know. I know."

Before anyone could respond, her cell phone began ringing. She reached into her purse and retrieved it. Glancing quickly at the caller ID, she flipped it open.

"It's over, isn't it?" she asked, without so much as a greeting.

"Yeah," the voice on the other end replied. "How'd you know?"

"I just… I just knew."

"Yeah… I can understand that."

"Was she happy? She was happy, right?"

There is a pause in which she can clearly see the sad smile on his face.

"Yeah. She was happy."

"Good. Good."

"Listen," he says a few moments later. "I'm gonna be stopping by in a few days. I need to talk to you, might need some help with a few things. You mind if I crash at your place when I get there?"

"Of course… but can't you stay-"

"No. I don't think so. You'll understand when I get there. It's kind of a surprise. Trust me."

"Okay," she agreed. "I guess we'll see you in a few days then."

"Yeah, see ya." With that, they both hung up.

"Who was that?" Luke asked.

"Jess," she replied.

Luke and Sookie looked back and forth between each other and Lorelai, who seemed wholly oblivious (Michel was reading a fashion magazine).

"Jess?" they finally asked in unison.

"Rory's dead," she says, not really answering their question.

"And how exactly did Jess come about this information? And why did he call you? I haven't heard from him in almost a year, but he calls you?"

"He's been with Rory."

"How did he even know?" Sookie asked.

"I told him," she shrugged. "Right after she left, I sent him a letter and a few of Rory's things. I have no idea how, but he found her in Vancouver. They've been together ever since."

"Seriously?" Sookie asked. Then something dawned on her. "So she's… she's really…"

"Dead?" Michel supplied boredly.

"Yes, Mr. compassionate, dead. Thank you for that."

"No problem."

"Yeah," Lorelai said, ignoring him. "She's gone."

There is one part after this... the only problem is... I haven't actually gotten around to, you know, writing it. Don't know when I'll have time to either. Just be patient.
