I just had to write this after finally getting through the Distortion World and Giratina quest in Platinum. Cyrus is such a fascinating villain.
*
Forty years after the cataclysm at Spear Pillar, Team Galactic became a subsidiary of Valley Windworks, Saturn as its new leader. Charon was eventually released from jail and went back to his old life as a scientist. Mars and Jupiter left Sinnoh to travel the world.
But what became of Cyrus? The cold, charismatic leader of Team Galatic had disappeared after the events at Spear Pillar, after being brought to his knees by a child with a pure heart and a will of iron.
Cyrus never did break the secrets of the Distortion World, never did create the world free of spirit and emotions that he'd sought after for so long. But in a world where time did not exist, there was no limit. He would complete his plans, by the time he returned to the outside it would surely be ashes, and then...and then, he would rebuild from those ashes his vision for a perfect world. He sits atop one of the dimmension's platforms, thinking and scheming, mad with delusion.
Finally, he thinks he's got it. The ultimate plan for his perfect world! His laughter is a creaky sound as he pulls himself back to the first portal, the one he'd opened so long ago. He leaps in, finds himself back atop Spear Pillar.
"This is..." he gasps. "Yes...this is it...!"
A team of researchers discovers his body there the next morning. No one knows how a man who hadn't aged a day in forty years could die so suddenly. Some believe he died of madness, others from the effects of the Distortion World.
Only a few noticed that he seemed to be smiling, and wondered if in his last moments he'd actually found peace.
