This Way Out

I'm trapped, like an animal in a cage.

I can't get out of here.

Tears of frustration stream down my cheeks.

I yell and scream, looking for a way out.

But I cannot do this on my own.

As much as I hate to admit it, I need someone to help me.

"Shadow," You speak softly to me.

I'm shocked, overwhelmed, and happy all at the same time.

I don't know how I can handle these new emotions so well.

You outstretch your hand towards me.

I hesitantly take your hand, not knowing if this experience was real or not.

"I'll get you out of here. I don't want you to suffer...not in your own dreams..." You say in your sweet angelic voice.

"Maria...?"

As I tightly grip your hand, not wanting you to escape from me again, I wake up.

I look around my surroundings and thank you for freeing me from my personal hell.

But I know...

I know that soon....I will be trapped again- and I'll need your guidance...
