Silence
Only in the silence deep,
Can wind's song be heard.
Rustling through majestic trees,
Sweet sounds from every bird.
...
At least that's how it was before,
Prior to destruction's reign.
Before a new modus operandi,
Before the planet's pain.
...
Use things once, then thrown away,
With no more second thoughts.
Wasteful use of resources,
Thus leading to wars.
...
More pollutants, from in the soil,
To clouds so high above.
Neglect given to the planet,
Where there'd once been love.
...
And while some could see this folly,
And from wastefulness refrained,
The rest of humanity,
Walked down destruction's lane.
...
Long silence thus once returned,
As Man spread to the stars.
Onboard the starship Axiom,
Instead of giant cars.
...
But on Earth no more songs were sung,
As life could no more sing.
For a single thoughtless species,
Had clipped beauty's wings.
