The night was cold that day. The sky was pitch black. Against it, like paint on a blank canvas, were swirls of white stars splattered across the sky. On the tallest hill, where the stars looked closest to the Earth a young couple lay, staring up at them with wonder.
"How do you think they got there?" The girl asked the dark haired boy lying next to her.
"I don't know"
"Well, what do you think?"
"I honestly don't know."
"It looks like broken glass. Like someone dropped a piece of glass in the sky and it shattered into a bunch of little pieces."
"Mmm, your right."
"How many?" She asked him.
"Hmm?"
"How many stars do you think live up there?"
The boy frowned. "I don't know. A lot?"
She shoved his arm playfully. "Come on. Give me your best guess." She teased.
"All right, all right. A billion and one."
"More than that."
"A billion and two."
"More."
"So many you can't even count."
"Exactly."
He rolled his eyes. "Why even ask?"
"Would you count the stars with me?" She asked.
"We could spend our entire lives up here trying to count the stars and probably never finish." He said.
"That's the point. Would you spend your entire life with me, right here, counting the stars?"
She leaned over him now. Her long blonde/brown hair tickled his face. "Would you?" she whispered.
He ran his fingers through her hair. "Of course."
She slowly leaned down and barely brushed his lips with hers. She sighed and her sweet breath washed over his face like a caress. He shivered in pleasure.
And then she built up the courage to ask the question she really came here to ask.
"Would you marry me?"
Without hesitating he answered "Of course."
Then he kissed her and it was pure and full of joy and love.
After that they lay there, blissful and content. Counting the stars.
Well that's that. Review please.
