Count From One to Ten
Quote of the Day:
"I'm warning you. You so much as bruise what's in your hand and I'll show you pain.
The hue of your soul will cease to matter because you will not be judged when you die.
You will no longer exist."
–Kurama, Yuu Yuu Hakusho (It was to Kaito, when Hiei's soul was in his grasp! ^^)
Disclaimer: I unfortunately do not own anyone i referred to in this fic, Yuu Yuu Hakusho, or the rights to anything related to them!
First
When Genkai was being cranky and orchestrated Yuusuke's mock kidnapping, Kurama was inanely pleased that Hiei allowed him to be the first to paste his sticker on him, as Hiei found out later that night.
Second
A second glance that caught the other in the same act was all the reassurance they needed before they went to opposing sides of battle.
Third
The third battle was between one of Makai's current rulers and her heir, and Hiei wondered how Kurama managed to rig the draw.
Fourth
Going by height, he was the fourth tallest of the team, and he refused to admit he had had to crane his head up pretty darned high to see Youko's –cool beautiful stunning– face atop the battle arena when he first appeared to the crowd and his opponent amidst smoke and crackling energy.
Fifth
When they first met, Hiei wore only one belt, but gradually, the number of belts increased, as he noticed eyes on him, until one day a thoroughly seduced Kurama ripped off five belts and proclaimed that Hiei was simply increasing the challenge and teasing him by wearing more.
Sixth
Demons never really had the sort of strong sixth sense the oaf had, and those that did were either eaten to gain more power or they developed their powers quickly enough that they could fully wield it to defend themselves; Hiei chose the latter when implanting the Jagan– it was a matter of survival instinct– and never imagined that his resistance to submit to fate could so attract a fox who believed in manipulating it.
Seven
Seven Minutes in Heaven was a game Yuusuke taught them at a party, never expecting they would take to it so well, so much so that he makes doubly sure to knock on any and all closet doors before opening them.
Eight
There was always at least one tub of ice cream in the Minamino household, because its residents quite fancied the taste of it, but when Shiori exasperatedly asked her son about the eight tubs of various chocolate flavours, he just shrugged and smiled, "there was a sale?"
Nine
The most number of tails a fox can have is nine, and as Kurama was only halfway there before the bounty hunter incident, he wondered how many he had now, and how many Hiei could stand to have wrapped around him on any night.
Ten
The tenth time someone mysteriously set off security alarms in her castle and sent her guards chasing humanoid objects around the grounds, Mukuro snapped irritably that yes, Hiei could have his stupid vacation leave and to please take that stupid nuisance of a fox with him.
A/N: I created this set of "prompts" while listening to 'Breathe Slow', by Alexa Dixon.
I planned to make it based on some part of the canon at first, but as the numbers increased my focus decreased and the last few had absolutely no real base in the anime or manga… (And Eight is a fandom fact! I'll be happy to elaborate on anything, just ask. ^^)
The 'topics' in each number may be expanded on if the author wishes to do so at a later date, but really, don't hold your breath.
