Ariel had not spent as much time on dry land since the incident, but this time it was of her free will to do so. A miracle had happened, something that could not have been explained or calculated if given a man a lifetime. But it had happened, and as for the reason, neither Ariel nor Jordan pondered; as they were too busy engulfed in their connection for one another.
For what seemed like weeks they lived upon that island. They told each other of their adventures since they last met, and fell asleep in each other's arms every night with a smile upon their faces. They did not question why they were there or what they would do next. They were just content in "being". It was enough when with each other, and something that neither one of them would give up again.
Despite this miracle, this reprieve from life as a way of living, everything on the horizon would not be such an easy path. Trials would come that neither would expect and maybe something more sinister lurked in the future. For now, however, Jordan sat staring at Ariel as she slept; watching her stomach as she breathed in and out and seeing how happily she existed in peace. For now, all was right with the world; unfortunately, the word had teeth.
