Prologue

"You…don't…want me?" I tried the words but they didn't sound right.

"No." It looked as if he was pained but his facial features were quickly replaced with nothingness. Just as quickly as his face had changed, he was gone.

"No," I whispered as I grabbed at nothing, grabbed at the last place he had stood. "No!" I started running, running as fast as I could. Running for him. Running for me. Running for us. Running for life. But it was no use. Stop that! He's not gone! He can't be! But none the less, I crumbled to the ground, helpless.
