I didn't know what I would
find
When I went looking for a reason, I know
I didn't read
between the lines
And, baby, I've got nowhere to go
I tried to
take the road less traveled by
But nothing seems to work the first
few times
Am I right?
Draco watched from his spot perched from the tree as Finnigan taunted Potter for entering the tri-wizard tournament. Naturally, Draco knew it wasn't Potter's fault. Eavesdropping outside his father's study has its benefits. That didn't matter though. What mattered to Draco was the insomnia that plagued him and it was all Potter's fault. On countless occasions Draco attempted to approach the boy who assailed his thoughts. All confrontations began with good intentions on making peace but ended with cruel words and his heart breaking a little more. Draco spent hours planning their next meeting in hopes this time would be different.
So how can I ever try to be better?
Nobody
ever lets me in
I can still see you, this ain't the best view
On
the outside looking in
I've been a lot of lonely places
I've
never been on the outside
Despite the hours of planning Draco knew he didn't have it right. He'd never get his chance with Potter unless he gave Draco the opportunity to get in a few words before attacking him with curses. S much as he couldn't deny he enjoyed the few moments they were able to spend together, Draco knew this couldn't continue unless he told Potter exactly how he felt. However, once again he found himself staring from a distance. Even though he was surrounded by his so called friends, he felt lonelier than ever. He wanted to be on the side of the light so badly but no one ever gave him the chance.
You saw me there, but
never knew
I would give it all up to be
A part of this, a part
of you
And now it's all too late so you see
You could've helped
if you had wanted to
But no one notices until it's too
Late to
do anything
After sending a letter to his father containing his feelings for Potter and his wish to not follow the Dark Lord, a letter was promptly sent back disowning him. A letter from him mother followed stating how disappointed she was to have him as a son. He loved his parents dearly but unfortunately their love came at a price that was too high for him to pay. When the exchange of letters was over, Draco searched the corridors for Potter. However, when he found him he was shoved away in ridicule. Draco never got the chance to tell Potter what lengths he went to in order to be with him on the light side. He knew Potter would never see him for who he was but that didn't stop Draco from trying his best. He refused to give in to the demands of others but lately it was becoming harder not to surrender.

Draco wanted to be better. He wanted to be good. Because of the name his Father bestowed upon him, he would never be given a chance by the only person he's ever loved. Potter would continue to hate him. They would forever be enemies and that hurt Draco the most. His heart bled because he would watch Potter from a distance, all alone, and would forever be an outsider to a world of good he wanted nothing more than to be a part of.
