She wrenched the note from the monkey's hand, attempting to ignore Glinda's fearful glances, and unfolded it, her eyes scanning desperately over the scrawled words.

Dearest Elphaba,

Miraculously, I've managed to escape, thanks to the spell you've cast on me.

I've had to pay a great price, but my love is still strong for you. I only hope that you will still want me when we next meet.

I have a plan for us and I will come back to you and explain it.

Tell no one I still am alive!

My only hope- our only hope is for all of Oz to think we're dead!

Fiyero

It was more than she could have ever wished for- Fiyero was alive! She fought to keep her emotions under control as she remembered that Glinda was still there, hovering cautiously. How she wanted to tell her- he didn't die! They could be together again, her carefully built facade was swiftly slipping away.

Our only hope is for all of Oz to think we're dead...

"It's Fiyero isn't it? Is he.."

Her words wavered, and Elphaba nearly gave in, nearly told her. But she couldn't. This was the way it had to be.

No one can ever know...

Steeling herself, she turned to face her best friend, her first friend, to say goodbye.

"We've seen his face for the last time."

There. It wasn't completely a lie. She knew very well what the dangerous powers of the Grimmerie were, Fiyero could have been transformed into something completely different; in her crazed state she had not cared to see what spell she was casting.

The Grimmerie. It was too dangerous to leave behind, and she did not care bring it with her as a reminder of her past. Perhaps...

She stalked past the quivering blonde, not hearing her cry of dismay, muttering in what she hoped was a resigned tone.

"You're right. It's time. I surrender..."

in case you were wondering- the reason fiyero's note is EVER so slightly retarded is because that is the exact text from the note used in the musical :D :D

well almost.. in the original note the first line reads Miraculously, I've managed. To escape, thanks to the spell you've cast on me. but made little sense...
