Chapter One (The Proposal)

From the moment the heavy mahogany doors flew open, all heads turned to the bride in white who was accompanied by a teenaged boy dressed in gray suit. As the pair slowly made their way through the aisle, Seravy met young Shiine's eyes and both had exchanged wide smiles.

It was the perfect day.

His green eyes then moved to his bride—Behind her white veil, he could make out her misty gray-eyes and her beautiful smile. It was the happiest that she has ever been and so was he. The World Champion Wizard felt his heart was about to burst open from his rib cage from sheer joy.

Indeed, he was the luckiest wizard on earth.

They were to be married and not even the cynical, Yakko could stop it again. Nothing can go wrong this time and he made darn sure if it by only inviting their closest friends.

And so, as the bride purely in white stepped forth, Seravi took her hand in his and gave it a light squeeze.

"You look extraordinary, darling." The green-haired groom whispered in her ear, making her blush brightly.

Dorothy directed a light smile at him, mouthing her thanks.

Filled with mixed anxiety and excitement, they both turned to the man that would officially bind them to matrimony. It was a long, carefully well thought-out process. Everything done from the exchanging of vows to proclaiming the couple bounded by the Church and by love.

"Do you, Dorothy, take this man as your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest asked the golden-haired witch, looking up from the bible he held in his hands.

With a smile, she spoke and made it known. "I do."

"And do you, Seravi, promise to love, honor, and cherish this woman all the days of your life?"

"Of course I will, everyday of my life!" He exclaimed aloud; but, as soon as he had let go of his words, the scene had become a blur and his bride to be was slowly dissipating.

As everything blackened, he could hear the faint mellifluous melody being sung by a humming bird. The hum became louder and louder….up until the annoying incessant ringing of an alarm clock had sounded all throughout.

Seravi's eyes then fluttered open.

…And once again, he was brought back to his compact four-sided room.

With a heavy sigh, Seravi sat upright on his bed. After a minute of two of replaying the pleasant dream he just had, the world champion wizard finally accepted the fact that it never happened. And so, he threw his sheets aside and withdrew his curtains to reveal a bright, sunny day.

"Are you ready to start your day, Seravi." His doll, Elizabeth, asked….although, really, it was him doing all the talking through ventriloquism.

Nevertheless, he answered her, "As ready as I'll ever be."

With one quick snap, Seravi changed into his usual white robe and wearing the brightest smile he can, he made his way through the dining room.

"Good morning." A familiar voice greeted him.

The wizard looked up to see Dorothy wearing her pink hair in a slightly messy bun.

"You look quite glum this morning." She remarks upon seeing his face. "What's the matter?"

Seravi who had just woken up was seemingly unphased by the comment and instead of sharing with her what he dreamed about, he simply smiled while lifting the kettle of tea nestled on the stove. "Just tired." He reasons out lamely.

Dorothy's gray eyes remain on the wizard. "Should I come back?"

"No, no, please stay and enjoy this green tea with me." Seravi flashes a smile in her direction while pouring the tea into the small cup.

"…Alright." With a small nod, she pulled out a chair and sat beside him.

….But she could sense that something was quite off about him.

Instead of his usual cheerful disposition, the green-haired wizard was unusually quiet. He would often make an effort to initiate small talk with her; but, today had been an exception.

Even when Dorothy had joked that his tea set was from the prehistoric era, he merely shrugged it off and wordlessly handed the witch her tea.

She frowned at the tea clasped between her hands.

He just sat there, motionless and quiet.

He seemed as if he were deep in thought, just thinking.

Why, he was so out of it that he didn't even bother bringing Elizabeth to the dining table.

The pink-haired witch's grey eyes had softened on the man beside her. 'This isn't like him.' She thought sadly.

"Sera—"

"Are you really not going to tell me what you came here to tell me?" Seravi interjects, catching Dorothy very off guard.

In fact Dorothy was caught so off guard that upon she heard his words, she had choked on the green tea she was drinking. "W-what?" she coughed. "Who said anything about me needing to tell you something?"

He merely locked his cold green eyes with her gray ones. "I saw the courier deliver a letter to your home."

"…It was a letter from the imperial palace…from Shiine-chan."

"Liar." Seravi accused. "The letter bore your family seal."

At this point, the Witch of Mt. Urizuri was sweating a lot.

There was no way around it.

Seravi was not a fool.

"In all of the years I've known you not once has your family sent you a letter." He said as a matter of fact. "Never." He repeated. "After receiving the letter— which contained God know's what—you immediately packed up all your belongings."

Seravy was too keen for his own good.

"Then today, you pay me an early visit." He continued to speak as the witch barely had any words to spare. "….You're here to say goodbye." He let out a sad sigh.

"…Aren't you?"

The pink-haired witched pursed her lips before averting his gaze.

"Yes." She nodded slowly.

"…I am leaving for town today."

"You don't have to go." He tells Dorothy, although what he really meant to say was that he didn't want her to leave…

"My dad passed away, Seravi." The witch breathed. "I don't think I have much of a choice here."

"They disowned you when you left."

When Dorothy was a child, her parents kept her cooped up in the manor for most of her life. To pass the time, the young lass spent time reading books ranging from classical literature to reference books about magic. Since Dorothy's parents were barely around, they hired all sorts of nannies and tutors to keep their children busy.

Dorothy, being the favorite child of their father, was being trained to be the next heiress of his fortune during that time even if he was rarely present during her formative years. The poor girl barely had time to play outside up until one of her tutor's had brought her nephew to look after.

His name was Seravi.

And from the moment Dorothy had met the boy, they had become the best of friends.

Albeit he was technically younger than her, Seravi had taught the young heiress how to have fun and what it meant to be a kid. Even at such a young age, the bright-eyed girl showed interest in magic and Seravi, being her closest and perhaps only friend, urged her to pursue her dreams despite the fact her parents were against it.

When she ran away from home, her father could never look at her the same way; but Seravi, the boy who loved her relentlessly, followed her.

"After he died, my mother had called up the family lawyer and he immediately brought out my dad's will."

As Dorothy caught Seravi's eyes, she continued. "Father had left most of estates he owned to my mother, he left half of the shares of his company to Doris and half…to me but obviously, I had declined…but the lawyer had insisted that the will was absolute."

"I presume you and your mother aren't even on speaking terms." Seravi frowned.

"No," She replied with a sad smile. "I don't think she has forgiven me yet."

Seravi had never seen Dorothy so vulnerable and seeing her in this state made him realize how easily she softens up when she talked about the family she left behind.

He levels his evergreen eyes with hers, gently squeezes her hand and despite it all, his eyes pleaded her, "Stay."

But they both knew, it cannot be done.

The patriarch of the family had written up his last will and testament which was to be followed. He stated that half of his riches will go to his young son, Doris and half will go to his long lost daughter, Dorothy provided she got married first. was extremely distressed with the situation her husband put her in and still, no matter how much she resented her traitor of a daughter, she had to follow his will. Thus, Grace asked the girl to go home to discuss on the matter immediately unless of course she found somebody.

Dorothy was already told about everything but how was she supposed to disclose this kind of news to Seravi? He already knew about her father's passing but he clearly didn't know about the engagement.

"That's quite an impossible request, Seravi. I have to go home and discuss my new engagement."

"Wait," The world champion wizard's eyes widen as his heart skipped a beat, "By engagement...surely you don't mean...your father wants you to marry?"

Quite grimly, she nods at his question in the most reluctant manner. "Yes, those are his words, dear."

"You can't just go on marrying somebody you don't know." Seravi's brows were knitted together.

She was silent with her head slightly bowed. As usual, he was right. Dorothy hadn't met her groom-to-be and yes, this whole arrangement is just all too surreal and preposterous; but, really, all she cared about was bringing "glory" back to her father's tainted name.

"I have no choice. Father's will is absolute. I can't defy him again."

Seravi could only stare at her. Truth be told, he was already boiling inside. He couldn't stand the idea of someone he loved so dearly being beside somebody else. It infuriated the hell out of him too. He wasn't going to allow this to happen.

He just couldn't.

His then emerald orbs drifted towards her saddened face. "If marriage is what he desires then, why don't you marry me?"

It wasn't a mere question. It was a proposal. His words caused the chair to screech as a shocked Dorothy stood abruptly. Her eyes widened, mouth gaped, Dorothy felt her chest tighten automatically. She could've sworn her pulse rate has stopped.

But yes, she thought considerately, it might just work.

Dearest Readers,

Hi, I am new here on this section but I have watched Akazukin Cha Cha in the year 1998. I am familiar with that show, of course because I fell in love with it. Dorothy and Seravi grabbed my attention especially with their small fights and chemistry. This is my sort of first Dorothy x Seravi fan fiction so I hope you guys like it. I will try to write another chapter if God gives me enough time to do so. As a junior in high school, life can be hectic but if you guys love it then I'll solely live for you *heart*

I admit that I am not a perfect writer. I do allow criticisms but not anything sharp. Flames aren't really welcome as well. And that's because I prefer a review that is done with civility and respect. If you don't like a story, you can either put it nicely or don't say anything at all

On the side note, I'm very pleased to be one of those writers under this section!

With all due respect,

SakuraTeardrop
