Authors Note: I don't own this and unfortuantly never will.

Well this started out quite differently being a story about Nine's thoughts durning Rose. Then halfway through I change my mind. This is what came out. Not my best work but I hope you enjoy it.

Turn of the Earth

Do you now like I was sayin' about the Earth revolving? It's like when you're a kid. The first time they tell you that the Earth's turnin' and you just can't quite believe it cause everythin' looks like it's standin' still. I can feel it. The turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinnin' at 1,000 miles an hour, and the entire fallin' through space, you and me, clingin to the skin of this tiny little world, and if we let go... That's who I am.

If you look far enough back, he's there. In the ancient stories and the legends of lost civilizations, the lonely god from beyond the stars who will appear out of nowhere when the night is at it's darkest.

He has no name, yet his name is venerated through out the cosmos, The Doctor. Last survivor of a once mighty race, dedicated to saving the universe one piece at a time. He appears out of nowhere in his magical machine and before you can blink; he's gone again leaving chaos in his wake.

Sometimes he will take friends with him, those he considers worthy will have the honour of becoming his companions. Some say they will stay with him forever, but when they leave – and they always leave – they are better people, stronger. That's the effect of the Doctor. He always leaves people changed.

They say he runs because he is frightened, because he is always running, never stopping, never staying in one place long enough to settle down. Maybe they are right, but if this man, this Doctor, who can change his very being, is afraid of anything. It is himself. The fury of a Time Lord.

For he can feel the earth turning beneath him, see the universe stretching and contracting like rubber. He can see the infinite span of time and still he goes on, the universe one constant. And if this man, who has seen things no other living person has seen were to let go. Just for one split second let his anger overwhelm him. Then God help the universe.

He's the Doctor, a Time Lord. from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous, He's 903 years old, and he's the man who's gonna save our lives. The lonely god, the oncoming storm. Last protector of a universe which seems determined to plunge itself into endless night.

Do I think he's out there? Of course I do. The question is do you? And if he appeared on your doorstep and offered to take you with him. What would you say?
