Promise

It had been near seventy years since Sarah had wished her brother, Tobi, into my Labyrinth and they were now gone. Tobi, having refused to become my heir, had died almost five years after his sister who had died in her sleep.

I had mourned the loss of my heir until little Harry wished himself to me. With no one to take him away, he was mine forever. I had made him my prince and my heir and all was well again.

And than he had asked that one innocent question. Made that one innocent promise.

And things had gotten much better.

"Ja'th?"

Five-year-old Harry asked, arms out stretched to me, silently asking me to hold him. I picked him up with a smirk, glad he was here to break my boredom. Looking up at me with wide emerald eyes, my little Harry titled his head up at me from my lap.

"Ja'th?"

He repeated and I smiled. He was so cute—he always waited for someone to respond to him before continuing speaking.

"Yes, Harry?"

He giggled, squirming on my lap and snuggling against my chest innocently.

"Ja'th, what's husband 'n' wife mean?"

I blanched slightly at his question, staring down at him in surprise before his expectant eyes had me answering slightly awkwardly.

"It is..what two people become when they marry?"

"Marry?

"The bonding between to people who love each other more than they love anyone else. It's what two people do when they want to spend eternity together and have children and start a family."

I answered after a moment. It had been the same answer my old wet nurse had told me when I had asked her.

"Love each other? Does that mean we'll be married and I'll be your wife?"

He asked, looking pleased and looking up at me for an answer. I found myself smiling in amusement and staring back at him.

"Do you wish to marry?"

I asked simply. Harry nodded earnestly, giggling up at me adorably, his eyes wide and sweet.

"'Ry love Ja'th more than anybodies else! 'Ry wanna be with Ja'th for 'ternity!"

He beamed, standing up on his little blue sock clad feet and kissing my cheek before beaming at me. Smirking. I wrapped my arms around him.

"Than we will marry."

I stated simply.

"As soon as you turn of age."

I added, laughing when his face fell slightly before he brightened again and hugged me.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

I laughed, squeezing him slightly and burring my face in his soft raven hair.

He would make such a cute Queen.

It was eleven years after the promise and my little Harry—my soon to be wife and Queen—walked down the isle slowly, his white dress being held back as he walked, smiling at me beautifully and looking stunningly happy.

I had never been so happy to have someone wished into my life. And to think, all that it had taken was a meddlesome old wizard and an innocent promise to make my own wish come true.
