Yay, a Carl/Wendy one-shot. I hadn't seen any out there. :D So, yay for Carl/Wendy; also light Doc/Susan.
Adjusting
Wendy watched as her daughter sit where her wedding was going to be. Where she was taken away and the married couple thought they may never see her again. They were completely surprised to see her when she came to visit with her . . . unique friends. "Oh, they hadn't fixed the hole in the roof," Susan stated meekly, gently prodding at the large hole she had created.
The bug-headed man chuckled lightly. "My dear, that is okay, we can help," he stated, sitting on her right shoulder.
Link tired his best to climb up her pant leg, but was failing miserably. Susan smiled, reaching down to pick up her friend. She laid him on the roof. He walked over on his feet and knuckles and went over to the large opening. "Whoa, Ginormica, you did this?!" he yelled, a smile on his face. "Man!"
He moved back just before the little bit of roof that supported him gave way. The fish-ape jumped far enough so he wouldn't fall in, but not too far so he could still see the hole. B.O.B oozed over, looking at the damage. "Who did this?" he asked innocently.
"I did, B.O.B," Susan whispered.
The large, animated blob gasped. "You destroyed God's home!" he cried.
Dr. Cockroach shook his head, but a small smirk on his face. "Forget it, B.O.B," he said, his antenna twitching.
The large blue mass gazed up. "Okay!" he said happily.
Susan chuckled. Insectosaurus was behind the church, nibbling on a tree. Her wings were low, but her tail was wagging. Wendy looked on. She had never seen her daughter so happy before. It looked as if she had accepted her new life, and her new friends. The bug-man was currently talking to her while lightly playing with a lock of her silver hair. Carl came over and playfully bumped his side into hers. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked.
Wendy looked over. "Oh, I'm just thinking," she said.
The slightly heavyset man glanced over at his daughter. "You mean about our daughter?" he softly asked.
"Yeah," Wendy breathed. "I mean, I'm so proud of her."
Carl looked at his wife. "So am I, dear," he said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "She's an amazing girl."
"Woman," his wife corrected. "She's a woman."
Carl let out a shaky sigh. "Yes, I know, but she's still my little girl," he said, trying his best not to cry his eyes out.
Wendy smiled and wrapped her arms around her husband. "Oh, I know," she said, nuzzling his shoulder. "She's wonderful."
The human male smiled. "Yeah, she is," he softly agreed. "She's a wonderful girl—woman."
"I hope she enjoys her new life," Wendy said.
"It looks like she does," Carl said, looking at his daughter's wide smile.
Wendy sighed, pressing herself against her husband. He rubbed her back and they looked at their daughter. They couldn't be more proud.
