A strong kick right in the helmet
was all it took to knock him half way across the dome. I laughed when
he got up and staggered with wide eyes. I couldn't help but giggle
when he put up his karate gloves in the time out signal and collapsed
back on the ground. Being a good sport, I walked over and stuck out
my hand to help him up. His cheesy smile was just too great.
"Uh,
Sandy?," He said "I have to go. It's getting late. Gary's
probably hungry by now."
"Sure, SpongeBob! I'll see ya'll
around." I faked my best smile and hoped he wouldn't notice the
sad tone in my voice.
"But, I'll be back tomorrow. And this
time, I won't go so easy on you!" I laughed again. He always
tried too hard to be tough.
"Of course not SpongeBob. Why would
ya do a thing like that?" He gave a cute little smile and said good
bye again before heading to the door. Now, I had something to look
forward to for tomorrow.
---------------------------------
The
alarm rang early in the morning and I groggily smashed down the
button. I tried to close my eyes again to get a few more minutes of
sleep but quickly realized that SpongeBob was coming over this
morning! I had so much to do to get ready!
"First, I need to
make cookies and lemonade, then I'll try to clean this place up a
little." I rushed off to get everything done and was finished
within the hour. I hadn't expected everything to get done so
quickly, so, I poured myself a glass of lemonade. There was a quiet
knock on the door. I looked out the window but didn't see anyone.
Whoever it was, they must have been standing directly behind the
door. I reached for the little microphone that was attached to the
box at the entry way.
"Who is it?" I said. Even though I
already had a feeling I knew.
"It's me, SpongeBob." He
sounded scarred and upset. I quickly pushed the drainage button and
ran to the front door. When he walked in, he looked around nervously
until he spotted me.
"What's wrong SpongeBob?"
"Well,
I… there's something… I need to do." Instinctively, I put my
hand on his shoulder in concern. I was surprised to see his whole
face go red and his pupils' dilate. "I'm just, kinda scared
to."
"Just go ahead, I'd be happy to help ya!"
"Really?"
"Of
course! Anything you need."
"Could… could you close your
eyes?" I hesitated for a second but nodded and did as he
asked.
"Ok, no peeking." I smiled and nodded again. Moments
later I heard the rush of water and my feet got wet. I was about to
open my eyes when I felt something firmly press against my lips. I
could feel his arms wrap around my waist, pulling me in closer. My
first reaction was shock, but I quickly got over it and put my arms
around his shoulders. I could have stayed like that forever but he
pulled away.
"I love you Sandy." I looked down at the bright
twinkle in his soft blue eyes.
"I love you too SpongeBob."
