Lost Spirit of the Millennium Puzzle
Author's Note: I've been feeling really down about my math grades and I wanted reviews for something new since those always make me feel better. Hugs are good too. This fic was inspired by a scene in the manga right before the Egyptian God cards are stolen in season five. This fic is dedicated to every single last one of my reviewers, old and new.
Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh
"Goodnight Grandpa," Yuugi said as he turned off the light and snuggled up under the covers.
He was out like a light and it was then that the spirit of the Millennium Puzzle came out from within and glanced at his partner to make sure he really was asleep. Once sure of himself, he glanced up at the full moon shining brightly through the sky light. On many previous nights, he had left his dreary soul room to look at the moon once his partner had fallen asleep. It was always a constant torture for him to be able to see the moon and the ethereal light it cast but never once feel its relaxing glow.
His left hand subconsciously moved to the chain that held the Millennium Puzzle around his neck. To his partner, it represented their strong bond with each other. The Pharaoh had never told Yuugi but to him, the chain represented his enslavement to the mortal world and the the Puzzle. The Puzzle was his eternal prison, tying him to Yuugi through its power. His existence was extremely limited; he could appear as a spirit only to his partner, occasionally takeover when there was danger, and wander the never-ending corridors of the Puzzle but that was the extent of his freedom. Even outside the Puzzle as a spirit, he could not move too far from his partner. His current existence was slightly better than what he had previously known; locked inside the Puzzle for 3,000 years, never once being allowed to see the light of the sun.
He sat down in the chair at his partner's desk and continued to gaze up at the moon, longing to remember a time when its lunar energy had shone on him instead of through him, when the sun had warmed him to the core and done more for him than just provide him with a source of light, and when he had known who he was.
Isis had told him that he was the Nameless Pharaoh and everything he had seen related to the subject had seemed to support it but he could not remember it. He had no clue what his life had been like. He knew nothing; no names, no faces, no places. Nothing came to his mind even after many hours of pondering in the quiet solitude of darkness. But that would change soon. Tomorrow, he was going to Domino Museum and finally, after 3,000 years of lurking within the the darkest of shadows, he would learn who he truly was and be more than just the 'other Yuugi'.
This was just a quick little oneshot that I wanted to do. It's not too bad, if I do say so myself. And people, please review it. I feel very miserable right now and I'm desperate for sort of encouragement at the present time.
