Game On!

"It doesn't have to be like this."

"We can just end this now."

"I swear no one will have to know."

"I promise not blog about it."

"I got this!"

"You sure Nick?"

"Yes- and you can even blog about it- because I will win." There was a gleam in his eye as he laid his tiles down.

Macy wasn't a big fan of Nick's rather egotistical tone- she sucked on her lip as she put down her last 6 tiles. Her hands moved expertly around the table- splitting sets and runs to make room for her various tiles.

She almost hesitantly looked up at Nick, she wanted to shame him after the way he spoke- but at the same time she felt rather bad- he still had at least 15 tiles left.

He was flabbergasted. She could almost see the wheels in his head turn as he realized she was out.

"You had six tiles! ... How could you… But…" Nick sighed a lowered his head in defeat.

"You've lasted longer than anyone else I've played with- outside my family." Macy apologized.

He lifted his head to meet her eyes.

"How do you do it?"

"Well it helps that whenever the women in my family get together we all play a big game of pounce, then of course when my brother was still at home, he my Dad and I would play phase 10 for hours. Rummikub is really just tile version of that and not as bad- since it doesn't have all the phases."

"More than just a pretty face I guess."

"wha-"

The door opened, Macy could see Kevin enter through the corner of her eye. Kevin surveyed the table.

"Oh-ho! She beat you bad! High-five Mace!" Macy weakly met his hand. Kevin patted his younger brothers shoulder reassuringly. "It's okay bro- she's like a card and tile game ninja."

"Yeah- I can't think of anyone else I'd rather be beaten by." Nick's eyes met hers again- a smile gracing his face.

"I can teach you if you want." Macy offered spontaneously. Curse that smile!

"That sounds good- are you free tomorrow?" Macy nodded, slightly stunned he responded so quickly.

"Good- you and me here, 4 o'clock."

Macy was definitely looking forward to it.

Wow the last two have been really Nacy haven't they? Weird.
