More than that

By: Tenma no Ouji

Disclaimer: I don't own POT nor do I own the song. "More than that" belongs to BSB.

AN: I'm trying to get back into writing. This will hopefully be what it takes to get me back into the swing of things. I haven't been in the POT verse for years. Four, maybe, but several weeks ago, I got really nostalgic after looking through my computer and seeing my old POT fics and decided it was time to make a comeback and try to finish some of my other stories as well. Definitely when I have time, I'll be writing.

I will be accepting request for oneshots. I already have people wanting a jirou, Yuushi and Yuuta, so i'll definitely try to write those ones.

Tezuka turned and glanced at the hunched form with a worried frown. "It's troubling isn't it?" Shifting his attention towards the speaker. The brunet gave a slight nod of his head, "His been so down lately. I can't help but be worried about him. He wouldn't tell anyone what was wrong, not even Momo or Eiji and his close to both of them. Even Inui and Fuji couldn't get anything out of the boy." The stoic buchou could tell his friend was working himself into a panic.

"Calm down Oishi. Everything will be fine." Tezuka turned his attention towards the youngest member of his team. 'At least I hope everything will be fine.' "Echizen!" The brunet watched as the boy lifted his head and turned towards his direction, a questioning look in his golden eyes. "A match?"

A small smile curled the princes lips as he got to his feet. "Hai, buchou." Came the response. If nothing else, at least tennis could always make the boy himself, however temporary it might be. Hazel eyes narrowed as he observed the first year. It became plainly obvious to him that the younger male had been crying at one point. And by the gasp that escaped his best friend, Oishi could tell as well. "Be still Oishi. He won't admit to anything being wrong, if anything it will just close him off more. He will tell us when he's ready." The captain murmured towards his vice captain.

Oishi nodded reluctantly, knowing his friend and buchou was right about their kohai. Ryoma will definitely pull away if they were to push him. "Alright. Take care of Echizen for us Tezuka." With that said, the motherly male turned and headed towards his doubles partner. "Care for a match, Eiji."

"Hoi! Hoi! A match with Oishi. Of course Aibou." The red head cheered. "Let's go." Oishi chuckled at his friends actions as ne followed the boy to a court.

After practice, Ryoma wasted no time in changing his clothes and heading out, wishing his teammates a goodnight as he went, unaware of the looks he was getting from the older males. Fuji's blue eyes were glinting madly against the dull lighting of the clubroom. "Someone sure has guts hurting our baby like this."

At the Tensai's statement, all heads turned in his direction. "What do you mean, Fuji-ko?" Eiji questioned, blue eyes wide and mouth quivering. He hated seeing his smallest kohai so upset and not being able to help him. "How do you know someone hurt ochibi-chan?"

"Saa." Fuji closed his eyes. "His actions clearly speak for itself Eiji-ko." The feminine brunet crossed his arms over his chest as he tilted his head towards the redheads direction. "No matter how much he tries to hide it with lies, our little baby boy has been crying. Even today, I know Tezuka and Oishi noticed earlier, but Ryoma's eyes were red and puffy."

Eiji turned his attention towards his partner with a inquisitive look, silently asking the older male for a response and once he received the positive, he whipped his attention towards his best friend. "What are we going to do? How can we help him if he doesn't tell us what's going on? I don't even know anyone who would want to hurt him like that. I mean, every one loves ochibi, don't they?"

Oishi nodded his head. "Several people." The kindhearted male stated, glancing towards Tezuka. "What do you think, Tezuka? Should we go after him? I'm really worried about him. It can't be good for him to hide things like this."

The other four who had remained quiet, finally spoke up. "We should follow him, we should." Momo's voice caused Eiji to turn in their direction, before he glanced towards Tezuka and nodded his head, agreeing with the second year, which the others voiced their own agreement.

And with a sigh, the captain gave a nod. "Let's go."

Ryoma entered the nearby park, hat pulled low over his forehead, so the brim concealed his eyes and hands stuffed into the pockets of his pants. "Baka. Baka. How could I have been so stupid as to believe his lies." Ryoma's voice trembled as he shook his head. He stopped at a large sakura tree in full bloom. "Baka." He whispered before crumbling against the tree and heaving, heartbroken sobs poured from the boys lips. "Baka."

Several pairs of arms wrapping around him, caused the boy to jerk and whip his head upwards, only to tremble more at the sight that met his eyes. and for the first time since that event took place, he allowed someone else to see him vulnerable. "Senpai-tachi." He whispered before collapsing against EIji and Fuji and burst into tears. "I'm an idiot. I didn't mean to." The boys lips quivered. "I didn't mean to fall in love with him."

Eiji and Fuji tightened their hold on the youngest boy while the rest of the boys stood around them, wishing to comfort the heartbroken boy but not knowing how to. "Hush now, Ryoma-chan. No one can hurt you now." Fuji murmured, wanting nothing more then to know the name of the person who had the guts to hurt Seigaku's baby boy. For they surely had guts to do something like that. "Who is this person? What did they do to you?"

"He said he loved me. That he was over him. He lied. I saw them together." Ryoma clutched his hands tightly within Fuji's shirt. "He lied. I hate this." The boy gasped out, "I hate this feeling. It hurts." The first year curled against his two older friends.

Eiji tightened his hold over the smaller boy, tears gleaming in his eyes. "Everything is going to be fine, Ochibi-chan. We'll make sure you'll heal from this." The redhead blinked back tears of his own. It hurt seeing someone so strong, someone he cared allot for, in so much pain and there was nothing he could do to ease the turmoil he was going through. "I wish I could take this pain from you."

"Who was it?" Fuji whispered. He really wanted to know the name of this person who had made promises but failed to uphold them. "Is it someone we know?" There was a moment where the tensai thought the boy wasn't going to respond; a few minutes later he felt the boy nod his head and he knew that Ryoma was going to answer their questions now. He glanced towards Tezuka, who nodded his head towards the tensai, giving him permission to start, "Alright, does he play tennis on a team we've played against?" Another lengthy pause before Ryoma gave a nod. "Did you win against him?"

Ryoma bit his lip, eyes clenched shut. "Yeah." He rasped. The sound pained the older teens. Never had they heard a sound like that from their first years lips. And they didn't like it one bit.

Tezuka's lips curled downward. He couldn't stand seeing Ryoma so upset. It hurt him more then he was willing to voice out loud. "Are you going to tell us who it is?" The captain stated, placing a strong yet comforting hand on the prince's head, "Or are you going to keep this person hidden from us?" Silence was the only response from the boy.

"I can see that you've been crying, you can't hide it with a lie." Fuji's soft voice echoed in the boys ears. "What's the use in you denying, that what you have is wrong." Ryoma clung towards his senpai's after hearing those words sang to him. He didn't want to involve his friends in his problem; in this mess he created. He should've known better then to get involve with someone like him. "I heard he promise you forever, but forever's come and gone. Baby, he would say whatever it takes to keep you blind to the truth between the lines."

Fuji tightened his hold around the smaller boy as a shudder raked his body. Tears soaked his shirt but went ignored. Blue eyes were open and a promise of painful retribution was evident in the glittering orbs. No one hurt those he loves, and Echizen Ryoma was someone he loved greatly. The boy was like another younger brother, and despite his cold and nonchalant persona, everyone on the team could see through the layers the boy put up to protect himself from other people; Ryoma could be very distrustful of people, something the team has yet to find the reason for.

Eiji bit on his lower lip, turning his head, he nuzzled the youngers neck, hoping to offer whatever comfort the action could bring him. A pair of arms wrapped around his shoulders, and subsequently, against their baby boy. Recognizing the arms holding him, the redhead sighed. "Oishi." He whispered.

For several hours the Seigaku regulars sat in a huddle, holding their first year, offering him whatever comfort they could. Telling him how much they all cared about him and how much this guy didn't deserve him. They promised him someone will love him more then what that guy promised him. Well into the night, a phone going off caused all eyes to turn towards the sound. Reaching over, Tezuka realized it was Ryoma's phone and glanced towards the boy. "He fell asleep."

"He exhausted himself out." Fuji ran his fingers through the prodigy's hair. "Whose calling?"

Glancing at the phone in his hand, Tezuka rose an eyebrow. "Sanada Genichirou."

Everyone whipped around at that, some in shock, others in surprise. "Sanada, ka." Inui murmured. "Yanagi mentioned something about his buchou and fukubuchou finally getting back together. You don't think...?" Inui's glasses flashed. To think that it was someone like Sanada who had hurt their freshman regular. It did make sense. Their team did play against Rikkai. Ryoma played against Sanada. And he did win.

Fuji glared death. "Let's not jump to conclusions. Answer the phone Tezuka, and put it on speaker so we can all hear."

With a nod, Tezuka did what the tensai asked. "Ryoma! You haven't answered any of my calls for days now. What's going on? Are you mad at me? Ryoma? Aren't you gonna say anything?"

"Sa-na-da." Fuji bit out. "Why are you calling our baby's phone?"

There was a moment of silence, before Sanada's voice came back, "Fuji? What's going on? Why are you answering Ryoma's phone?"

"No, why are you calling ochibi's phone, Sanada." Eiji spat out, blood boiling in anger. He was slow to catch on to most things, but this, he understood. Sanada had to have been the one to hurt Ryoma, after all, their baby wouldn't just give out his phone number to just anyone unless they were close to him. The only people beside his family who had his number was the team and Kevin Smith. As stated previously, their first year was distrustful of people, which is why he tended to keep them as far away as possible. "Are you the one who hurt him?"

A long pause met Eiji's question. Tezuka's eyes narrowed. "Well, Sanada. Are you the one responsible for hurting Echizen? It's not a hard question to answer. It's either a yes, or a no." The brunet glanced towards the passed out form of Ryoma. "We heard you and Yukimura got bqck together. If you are the one Echizen was dating, I want you to know, he saw the both of you together. And if you were, in fact, the one who caused him this much pain, be sure that you'll experience his pain multiplied by a hundred." With that said, Tezuka hung the phone up, before Sanada could say anything to deny or confirm the Seigaku buchou's statement.

"Why did you hang up on him before he could say anything else, Tezuka-buchou?" Momo questioned, while Kaidoh hissed and others stared at their captain in confusion.

Fuji chuckled, "Saa, Tezuka does have a habit of hanging up on people when they are speaking to him, ne, inui."

Inui grinned, adjusting his glasses. "He does tend to hang up on me whenever I'd invite him out on group recreational activities. I guess he just never has the time to relax and have fun with the rest of us."

Tezuka looked unimpressed with the both of them, glancing towards the phone in his hands, his eyes widened, slanting a look towards his team, momentarily, before turning his attention back to the object in his hands. "It's confirmed." The stoic team leader held the phone up, so the rest of the team could see what had caught his attention. "Sanada is the one responsible." For their, on Ryoma's phone was a picture of the both of them. Ryoma was sitting on a bench, ponta in one hand, his racket in the other. His white cap was pulled low while a smirk played on the edges of his lips. Behind Ryoma stood Sanada. leaning against the back of the bench, his arms wrapped around the freshman's shoulder; a smile painted across the hardfaced Rikkai fukubuchou mouth.

"He'll pay for this."
