(A.N: in his story, Jasper exists, but isn't married to Alice, and Erik doesn't like Zoey. The rest you will find out)

Chapter 1

"Mary Alice Brandon Cullen! Night has chosen thee; thy death will be thy birth. Night calls to thee; hearken to her sweet voice. Your destiny awaits you at the House of Night!" I turned to see a vampyre tracker standing next to me. I was too distracted by his sweet voice. Then, all of a sudden, he lifted one long, white finger and pointed at me. As my head was suddenly in such immense pain, I nearly didn't notice that everyone was running away from me.

I suppose I'm used to people running away from me. Everybody thinks I'm weird, which I'm not, in my eyes at least. I live in Swan Lake, just 2 minutes from Tulsa, so, it won't be much of a change to go to the house of night. Everyone will still know me, know me for the stupid, clumsy, girl with dwarfism. So yeah, I'm a little shorter than everyone else, so how does everyone react? Why they run away of course! I'm a so called "freak". But I, however, don't believe in stereotypes.

Wow, I was thinking about all of this, while my head throbbed in pain and coughed so loudly you could hear it from every nook and cranny of the large hallway of Booker T Washington High school. Then, everything went black.

When I woke up I was in a small room with very little lighting. My head was stinging, and when I sat up my head was spinning. I waited until the walls stopped moving, and then stood up. To my surprise, I saw an amazingly beautiful woman looking at me.

"you gave us quite a scare young lady." The woman said as she stood up ever so gracefully. "I'm Neferet by the way, high priestess, and principal of the House of night Tulsa. Is there anything I could get you?"

I'd never been treated so nicely in my life! It was always 'Hey shortie grown some legs' or 'you wanna kiss me? Well you can, if you can reach me!' but the name that always hurts the most is 'hey oompa loompa!' and they'd leave it at that.

My parents abandoned me when I was ten. Yes, they literally abandoned me. They'd taken me to a unfamiliar street corner, told me to get some groceries, which I did, and I came back and they were gone. I lived on the street, begging for three months. When, a small family found me and officially adopted me. But it didn't feel right. So when I was fourteen, I got a legal emancipation. And now I live on my own.

But back to the story.

Then, someone else walked into the room. "I heard we have a new student, and she's very dramatically talented. A misss Mary Alice Brandon."

"Erik," Neferet chided "we don't want to force this young lady into something she might not want to do. She might want to change her name anyway, would you like to?"

"Yes" I replied, and I realised this was the first time since I came here that I felt safe. "I'd like to change it to 'Alice Cullen.'"
