Steady eye.

Kagome stared out the wooden space that was referred to as a window, not much was going on right now. It was quiet, all apart from the drunk laughter of Sanosuke and his gambling friends. A good lot of men, but as the hours crept up on them, she grew tired of the noise. "Some structure would do him some good."
"Hey, Kagome~!"
The joyful laugh of Sanosuke drifted to her ears as an arm was thrown over her shoulders. The smell of Saki drifted to her nose and she smiled, "you're drunk, Sanosuke. Perhaps you should call it a night?"
He chuckled, "I'm not drunk, not yet, come drink, a little, little bit...a bit, that's only a little." This was all said with flushed cheeks and gentle chuckles.
"You're right, you aren't drunk yet." Kagome laughed, taking his bandana and turning the knot to the side of his head, she grinned, "now you're drunk."
"Huh? I am?"
Kagome nodded, taking his hand in hers, she guided him to his futon, "lay down and rest for a bit, I'll be back." She watched him plop down and chuckle a bit before falling back onto the futon. As soon as his head hit the pillow, he was out. Kagome stepped out of his room and around the corner.
"BIG SISTER~!"
Kagome sighed and smiled, walking towards his friends she gave a small bow. "I'm sorry, but big sister will be escorting the group of you home, shall we?"

Sanosuke woke up to the soft chirping of birds outside his home, stretching his arms high above his head, he gave a long yawn before standing. His bandana fell into his eyes and he gave a grunt as he pulled it off and untied it. Fixing his hair, he put the bandana to his forehead and tied it behind his head in a tight knot. "I must have been smashed..."
"That's one way to put it, though if it's because of your bandana, I was the one who moved it to the side of your head like that. It was the only way I could convince you that you were in fact intoxicated."
"My apologies," Sanosuke grinned, "did I give you a rough time last night?"
"Not really, I took you to bed, then took your friends home. It was quiet after that. I've been sitting here relaxing since then." Kagome stood up from her spot on the roof top above his window before gracefully leaping to the cobblestone ground.
"Have you slept any?"
"No...I'm not required to sleep much...so long as I rest once every few days, I'm okay. My brother can go weeks without sleep..."
Sanosuke frowned, "you mentioned yesterday...that you were a demon...what was that about, if you don't mind my asking."
Kagome shook her head, "let me get to know you just a little bit more before I start sharing all of my skeletons with you?"
"Can't you throw me a bone at least?"
"...I'll humor you with the funny bone." Kagome smiled, watching as he walked to the window and crossed his arms over the seal before placing his head on his arms. "When I was fifteen, I was a normal girl who didn't know a thing about fighting or hard work, but then...I fell into something, a dream...or perhaps a nightmare. I was forced to learn how to take care of myself, though...I wasn't alone. I met many interesting people on my forced upon journey. Friends...I had thought..."
"Sanosuke~! Kagome~!"
Kagome turned a smile to Yahiko as he came running up to them. "...Sanosuke, my pat is pretty beaten up, but you know, the horrors of that nightmarish dream has led me here..." she stopped as Yahiko stopped beside her out of breath, turning her eyes to Sanosuke who had yet to look away from her, she gave a look of contentment, "for that I cannot complain."
"Don't think you are getting off that easily, you will tell me more later...right?"
Kagome shrugged, "If I don't forget..."
"What are you guys talking about?" Yahiko asked curiously as he looked between the two.
Sanosuke smirked, "nothing a kid would understand."
"Then how come you are talking about it?" Yahiko shot back without missing a beat.
"You damn twerp!"
Yahiko laughed as he took Kagome by the hand, "I'm stealing your girlfriend Sanosuke! Oh...wait, she's Kenshin's, I forgot! Sorry to get your hopes up!" He laughed out loud at the flustered look on Sanosuke's face.
"If I catch you your dead, Yahiko~!"
Kagome smiled as she was pulled out to the bridge, "was there something you needed, Yahiko? You seem almost as flustered as Sanosuke."
Yahiko dropped her hand and waved his defensively, "I...I'm not flustered, I just had a question! Yeah...um, how do you feel about Kenshin? I mean! That is..."
Kagome laughed, "I really don't know Kenshin all that well. I met him once ten years ago, he was supposed to kill me, but he instead ended up sleeping a few feet across from me while a battle raged on around us. I awoke to him still asleep, and then...when he woke, he still didn't attack me. I think, we were both confused, because neither of us killed the other...it fascinated me. That's why, for ten years, all I wanted was to face him, in his own sword style, and win...no tricks, no upper hand..."
"You won..." Yahiko smiled.
Kagome looked out at the water below and glared, "no...I failed..."
