This is just something that came to my head after watching the last episode. I don't own anything, sadly.

She knew that he was well aware of the fact that she didn't like the way he drove, but he was speeding anyway. The expensive car, was whipping around the turns, and she gripped the sides of her seat. He turned and grinned at her, looking too calm and in control for a man driving this fast in someone else's vehicle-someone who's other car he'd wrecked not long ago and who had reason to be mad as hell at him.

She hated how he had pressed her to tell him what was bothering her, when he knew good and well it was the situation between Rigsby and Van Pelt. She hated to show weaknesses, yet he was always encouraging her to do just that. He was someone that she couldn't control, someone who always had the upper hand and who could often tell what she was thinking. This was the type of man that she had trained herself to be wary of, to not trust and to always keep an eye on.

Yet she wanted to open up to him. She knew that deep underneath that arrogant, annoying exterior was a man who wanted to be her friend. He annoyed her, played mind games with her, and tried to make her blush for the fun of it. But he had killed to protect her; he'd believed in her innocence when she was being framed for murder; he had always left her out of stunts that would threaten her job, and now he was taking her out to eat to help keep her mind off of everything that was going on. He was trying, really trying to be her confidant, the one she could talk to. And although she had spent so many years holding herself upright, hiding her emotions and not finding solace in the trust of another human being-aside from the "I've-Got-Your-Back" trust all cops had with each other-she could feel herself starting to let her guard down around him. Glancing to the side again, she caught his eye, and they smiled at each other. Well, she smiled-he grinned-and then he turned to face the front again, expertly guiding the flying car around another turn.

Lisbon smiled again, to herself this time. She wasn't ready yet, but she took comfort in the knowledge that when she was ready to talk, he'd be ready to listen.

I sincerely hope you liked it…maybe let me know in a review?
