Chapter 18 Sneak Level 100

Anger was an understatement, pure and utter rage is what Jak was feeling at that very moment in time. So much rage that he could not even change into his dark form. Jak wasn't sure what he was going to do. the only constant thing in his life was gone, taken from him by someone who was a sore loser. He slammed his hands on the table knocking over a cup of juice. Jak stood quickly and walked to his room. The others could only watch they knew that nothing said or done would calm Jak down from this.

Jak sat on his bed and looked at all of the clothes that he had bought Jaklin. Slowly he began to fold and pack everything away. He didn't want to feel like this it was much worse than when he found out that Damos had been his father. Jak picked up all of Jaklin's toys and put them away as well. He kept Jaklin's favorite toy on the bed so that when she came back she could cuddle with it.

Jak flopped onto the bed and looked at the toy. There was nothing really special about it. Just a butterfly that would glow in the dark. Every stain on the purple cloth wings Jak could name and when it happened. There was the fruit juice stain from last week when they were playing, the chocolate sauce smudge from when he caught her in the fridge three days ago. Jak clutched the toy to his chest and rolled over. He buried his face into the pillows. He did something that he hadn't done in a long time, he cried.

Daxter had managed to sneak into Jak's room to make sure he was ok. When Jak rolled over and started crying he knew that Jak was in a bad way. He hadn't seen his buddy like this in a long time. he hadn't cried when he got out of prison. Nor did he cry at his father funeral. Jaklin had been the cause of many changes in Jak ever since he chose to keep her.

There was only one thing Daxter could do for Jak at this very moment in time. He climbed up on the bed and curled up on his back and just laid there. He felt Jak cry harder for a while until he cried himself to sleep. He made sure that no one bothered him as he rested.

Jaklin sat in a chair watching the weird bald guy walk around the room talking to the man in the red coat. She wasn't sure what exactly was going on but she was getting hungry and wanted to go back to her daddy. She watched the two men argue and knew that this was her only chance to get out of the room.

Quickly she looked around the room and found an open grate behind her. Slowly she slipped out of the chair and crawled to the grate. Thankfully she was just small enough to fit into it and started crawling. She didn't have to wait to long before she heard shouting from the two men as they tried to find out where she went.

Jaklin was crawling for a long time peaking in to rooms as she passed their vents. One particular room made her stop. There were all kinds of toys all over the place most were cars with little racers in them. Bobble heads, flags, plastic trophies, key rings, lanyards, and other cool stuff hung on racks or sat on shelves.

Just as she was getting ready to crawl away something caught her eye. It was a rare limited edition combat racing Jak doll. All Jaklin could do was stare at it for a long while. She knew what she had to do now. She pushed on the grate and it landed on the floor with a clang. As quickly as she could she crawled out and grabbed the doll.

She had just made it back inside the air duct when someone came into the room. She didn't stay to listen as she dragged the doll with her further down the duct. It was a challenge for her since the doll was almost as big as she was. This was definitely a prize she could handle.

Jaklin crawled for what seemed like forever, finally she reached a small dip in the air duct but could not climb out. At first she started to cry but stopped when she thought she heard someone. All she could do for the moment was cuddle with the doll. She was so tired and the doll was so comfy. She wandered what her daddy was doing as she drifted off to sleep.

Sometime in the early morning a loud clang woke Jaklin up form a very good dream. She lay cuddled up against the doll for some time before a smell caught her nose, it was one that she knew well. Daddy was making her favorite breakfast! Pulling herself up she began crawling towards the smell. It didn't take her long to find the grate that was the kitchen where her father was.

Dez heard something from the grate and toddled over to take a look. to her surprise it was Jaklin and she squealed with delight and started babbling to Jaklin as they talked Daxter walked over to pick Dez up and noticed that something was off about the grate.

"Hey Jak there's something funny with this grate," Daxter called over his shoulder. Jak tipped his head and walked over to the grate and looked at it. There was nothing he could see that was wrong with it. That was until he saw a tiny little finger poke out from between the metal.

"Holy mother of the precursors!" he said as he reached for the screw driver that was kept in a draw for emergencies. Quickly and carefully he unscrewed the vent and pulled it off. Who should topple out but Jaklin with the Jak doll in tow. Jak didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry at that moment so he did both.

He held Jaklin close to him for a few minutes before she wiggled out and looked at him and held the doll up. Jak looked at it and rolled his eyes he had no idea where she got it from and he really didn't care at this point and time.

"Daddy" she said holding it up to him with a smile. Jak had to sigh and nod his head. Jaklin gave him a smile and hugged the doll then him. She looked around the room and only Daxter, Tess, and Dez were in the room with them. They were all smiling as well.

"Food?" Jaklin asked looking at Jak knowing that she had smelled the funny concoction that she was so fond of that only her father could make. Jak laughed picking her up and took her to the table where he cut his food in half and gave it to her. Where Daxter and his family had moved to just moments before.

"you sure did take your time getting back this time didn't you Jaklin?" Tess teased Jaklin who only rolled her eyes as she stuffed food in her mouth. She didn't care she was with her dad and family so she was happy. Jaklin yawned she didn't get very good sleep in the vent and it had only been two hours.

As soon as Jaklin was done eating Jak scooped her up, got her clean, took her potty, and put her in some pj's they both went to bed. Daxter would check on them once in a while to make sure that no one had messed with them in their sleep. Once every one had come back from their short break and found out that Jaklin was ok and back with Jak they were relieved.
