Ace was the fire that burned everything until there was nothing left but ashes. He was like that spark that starts and causes the flame. Portgas D. Ace was...
On a cloudless night, Luffy awoke from his dreams. He went out to the galley of the Thousand Sunny and stared at the sky. In his right hand, he held his treasure—Shank's straw hat; and on the other hand, he was holding onto Ace's vivre card. It was burnt at the corner and the wind blew so strong that he held it tighter, fearing that he might lose it. He looked around and saw no one, so he decided to think out loud.
"Ace, I miss you so much."
He put back the vivre card in the hidden pocket on the ribbon of his hat. He turned around, took a step forward, but collapsed as soon as he realized what he was doing. The vivre card that Luffy has wasn't Ace's or anyone's. It was just a piece of paper burnt at the corner, a piece of paper that always reminded him of how Ace's vivre card burned out.
Luffy was kneeling on the ground, his tears strolling down on his cheeks. He punched the floor as hard as he can until he made a whole. He was now alone, no crewmates... no brother.
Portgas D. Ace was... the fire that has been blown.
Author's Note: I wrote this drabble immediately after I read the recent chapter. I still can't believe that he's gone... But I refuse to admit that he's dead because he still lives in my heart. I hope the other fans can cope with the sudden loss of Ace and the first death that occurred in OP world outside of flashbacks. And btw, Vivre Cards are also known as Biblicards. They're the same thing. In this drabble, Luffy was the first one to get back on the ship and that explains the 'being alone' thing. Please review! :)
