Soft morning light filtered through gauzy, cream-colored curtains of the quiet bedroom on an early Sunday. Small sparrows chirped happily as they darted from tree to tree, greeting each other as well as keeping a look out for food. There was the occasional sound of motorists puttering up and down the road, most of the residents of the town still in bed.

A small, solidly built brunet with untamed spikes of chocolate brown and pleasant orbs of ocean blue lay on his side in bed, right arm propped against the pillow top mattress and head resting in the palm of his hand, his left hand occupied with that of his bedmate. Calloused fingers traced the fine contours of his bed mate's face as softly as he could manage, ghosting over the pale skin and fine-boned features as his fingertips memorized the softened features of the other's face in sleep. Sora had been doing so for almost an hour, just watching the other sleep, the peaceful expression on the boy's face enough to make Sora's heart clench.

He was retracing a delicate silver brow when the other boy frowned, marring the image of an angel in sleep. A pale hand rose to rub at his eyes and Sora drew his hand away so that the motion wasn't blocked, smiling as sleepy sea green orbs blinked at him. "Mornin'."

It seemed to take a moment for the word to process in Riku's mind but he grumbled in response, shifting under the duvet and closing his eyes again. "Morning. You're being creepy again."

Sora laughed at that - a light, shallow huffing sound that went with the quiet atmosphere. "You know, most girls would melt at knowing their boyfriend woke up early just to watch them sleep."

A light snort. "And the others would call the cops to get a restraining order."

"Mm, maybe."

It was their usual routine for Sundays, the one day they were guaranteed off together. Though he would never admit it Riku was rather fond of the feathery-soft touches that slowly drew him away from Sand Land and though Sora knew it, he was good enough to know not to point it out.

"You know," Riku murmured, slowly opening his eyes to meet Sora's gaze. "The only thing that gives us away are the curtains Kairi put up. They scream 'there be raging homosexuals here.'"

Sora gave a real laugh at that - a full, surprised but happy sound that made Riku smile in response. "Well, it's a good thing we're confident in our sexuality."

"Mm, yeah." Sliding closer to the brunet the silver haired male wrapped an arm around his waist from under the duvet, soft lips already reaching as he leaned forward for a lazy, gentle kiss that warmed them both to their toes. It wasn't until Riku drew back that Sora realized he had closed his eyes, opening them slowly to see his lover's fine-featured face. "Happy anniversary."

"Happy anniversary," the brunet murmured in return, leaning forward for another kiss.

The pair stayed there in bed, sharing gentle kisses and brushing loving touches against each other's skin, unaware of the slowly waking world behind their gauzy curtains.
