She looked at him through her tears.
"You had your chance. You never saw what was right in front of you." She took a deep breath and continued, "I'm sorry Logan. I can't do this anymore." His face remained impassive, and he turned and walked out of the room. She closed her eyes and listened for his footsteps. Instead of footsteps she heard a bike revving up and taking off. She closed the door to their room silently. She wiped her tears away and sat down in her chair.
'Calm yourself.' she thought to herself. She took a few more calming breaths and rose to her feet. Burying her sadness and regret, she walked out of their bedroom.
Something was wrong, she sensed it before she came across her friend. Storm, normally calm and collected was crying, silently but steadily.
"Ororo," She whispered. The other woman jumped,
"Jean. What do you need? Is there a problem?" Jean looked at her, carefully searching through her mind. She gasped when she saw flashes of the fight. Logan storming out on Ororo. She closed the distance between her and Ororo. She hugged the older woman,
"I'm so sorry." She whispered.
"I'm pregnant." Ororo whispered brokenly, Jean's heart broke for her friend.
"Did he know?" She asked gently,
"No, I didn't get the chance to tell him." Ororo said sadly, Jean helped her dry her face and changed the subject craftily. Soon, they were enjoying themselves. Jean's mind was pre-occupied with what she had seen of Logan's mind....
