Chapter Nineteen

Akira's creased brow was shaking as he watched Arisada pose with his fist clenched up to the sky. Despondently he looked down at the familiar looking teacup that had been placed in front of him. In that moment Akira had the fleeting thought that things would be so much easier if he was a teacup.

Although Akira had refused to take part and had stayed determinedly silent the council had not allowed him to leave the room claiming that just his presence was enough to inspire a work of literary brilliance. With the door obstructed with several pieces of furniture Akira had reluctantly accepted his fate.

Behind the President writing covered the white board. A line had been drawn down the centre with Tooru's name on one side and Yuujirou's on the other with character attributes and descriptive words listed under the appropriate name.

"We need the letter to be moving! Heartfelt! I want to feel tears in my eyes from the feelings of love overflowing from the letter. Think Romeo and Juliet!" Arisada spoke to the room and his loyal council members nodded their heads in agreement while furiously scribbling notes.

"Just imagine Princess Tooru calling up to his beloved Princess Yuujirou who stands upon a balcony on a moonlit night. The light perfume of flowers scenting the air while Tooru professing the feelings in his heart. Yuujirou so overcome with emotion he professes his own feelings in return!" Arisada stared into the distance as he spoke, this would be a true romance story, the students were counting on him! This would be a pure romance to lift the spirits of the students under the stress of school work and personal problems.

"Have the first letter ready for deployment by the end of lunch break! This time my plan will surely be a success!" Arisada smiled winningly and let out an excited laugh.

"Aye!" Akira felt the powerful aura of Arisada's smile almost sweep him away and found himself nearly beaming back at the President as his loyal followers were doing. Arisada was truly a dangerous man.

If Tooru was confused about the behaviour of his fellow princesses it was a completely hidden emotion to anyone who saw him walking through the hallways in the direction of the infirmary. He'd wanted to follow Yuujirou to the canteen but the crowd of admirers surrounding the blonde princess's desk was particularly thick and as Akira had failed to return to class Tooru wanted to check on his friend.

Akira had been looking quite uneasy this morning and Tooru really hoped he was feeling better. Not just because he hoped that his friend was not falling ill but also because if there was anyone that Tooru could talk to about the new development between the other princesses it would be Akira. Finding no one present in the infirmary Tooru made his way to the cafeteria.

As Tooru walked into the dining room there seemed to be serious discussions taking place all over the room and snippets of these discussion could be heard from the princesses table.

"I'm telling you the love between Yuujirou and Mikoto is the true pairing, see how they spent their break together and how they arrived before Princess Tooru to have a few minutes just to themselves. Let's go Team Mikoto!"

"I'm supporting Tooru and Yuujirou all the way, they share a room, they spend most of their time together and they've been seen holding hands! Team Tooru!"

"Who says the princesses aren't all together, they share a bond, they have to count on each other!"

Turning to his audience Tooru gave the students a radiant smile.

"Poor Princess Tooru, he's putting on a brave face!" "What are you talking about; he's obviously happy to be reunited with his love!"

Having done his duty as a Princess and ignoring the conversations taking place around the room, Tooru sat down in the last available chair, next to the blonde princess.

"Where did you run off to?" Yuujirou asked. Shifting his seat closer to the blonde Tooru gave the other boy a smile.

"Ah, I had to see if Akira was feeling better, he wasn't looking so good earlier and I left him resting in the infirmary." Across the table Mikoto gave Tooru a pitying look while Yuujirou gave him a glare.

"Hmph. So you went to see Akira? And how is he feeling now?"

"I couldn't find him there, so he must be feeling better." Satisfied that the bluenette hadn't spent any more time alone with the President in training Yuujirou relaxed and allowed Tooru to shuffle a little bit closer. Around them a few students were gesturing fiercely in their direction.

"Does anyone think the students are watching us a bit more intensely then usual today?"

"President Arisada is up to something. We'll meet in the usual classroom after school to discuss."

Aside from the usual photographs of the princesses in action passing through the students, there also seemed to be cards and badges either in support of 'Team Mikoto' or 'Team Tooru' which the students were eagerly collecting. From one corner of the cafeteria two of the council members watched these exchanges with approval. Keeping one eye on the princesses and another on the atmosphere of the students they were certain that President Arisada would be happy with the new enthusiasm for the princesses and the success of the new merchandise.
