summary: "It wasn't for me!"
"…I'm sorry."
"Save it."
It was difficult to apologize to her while she was being all huffy. And it was harder for something he didn't feel was his fault. She could have clarified, or said something, before he'd acted stupid and irrational. He watched her toes curl into the soft patchwork quilt that lay across their shared bed, a sure sign that she was irritated.
"I said I'm sorry, okay! What else do you want me to do, damn it? Get on my knees and grovel?"
Kuki gave him a cool look, one rarely seen on the pretty Japanese girl's delicate features. "Appreciated, but no."
"What then?" Wally's tan forehead was turning an unnatural color of pink, the telltale sign that he was either annoyed or embarrassed. It was a bit of both, in this case.
Kuki balled up her fists, dropping all pretenses. Her cheeks were going reddish. "I'd like to get my job back!"
Wally bit back a sarcastic retort, knowing that this was going to come up, and settled for a carefully controlled response. "That guy was coming onto you."
"He was not! I was taking his order and he gave me a tip and smiled!"
Wally cradled his head in his hands, his wheat-gold bangs pushed haphazardly to the side. Kuki knotted her limbs together, sitting back onto the bed's headboard with a stubborn, petulant look. "Kuki," he started between gritted teeth, "his number was slipped under the bill he gave you."
Kuki's mouth hung agape. "Is that was this is about?" She shook her head, bemused. "I knew you couldn't handle me getting a job."
Wally opened his hands, pinching his silver class ring in attempt to rebuff some of the astounded fury he was feeling. "Isn't that obvious?"
"That number was for my coworker. Rachel. She was on lunch break." Kuki raised her eyebrows, waiting for him to digest this information.
Instead of looking surprised or atoned, he just looked annoyed. "You couldn't have told me that before I cuffed him in front of his little sister?"
Kuki looked amused, pressing back butterfly giggles by holding her mouth shut with her pink-painted fingers. "You were worried about me."
Wally's forehead, which had been slowly draining of color, turned coral. He muttered something incomprehensible.
"You were!" she said joyfully, her ebony hair swinging loosely around her pretty, round, excited face. Her lips were pursed in an irresistible pout. Her hand curled into the fabric of his blue sweatshirt, lying a few inches from her reach.
He could tell, from the way her lips reached just so on his cheekbone and her hand worked its way into his hair that his apology was accepted.
Yes, I've been on a ridiculously long hiatus. Grades and whatnot, high school's a bitch.
Probably doesn't make up for the three or so months I've lost but…
It's simple and easy and cute. And crappy, mostly dialogue, very OOC. So there.
