Author's Note: (Important to the storyline)
Hello dear readers, I just wanted to inform you beforehand that English isn't my native tongue, so I must have a lot of grammatical errors. Sorry about that in advance. Back to the story. Please remember that the story starts with Hermione being in the timeline of The Deathly Hallows. So she's 17 already. While Bella's timeline is at the start of Twilight. So that's 2005, and she's turning 17 also. That's all you have to remember, okay enough chitchat, I hope you enjoy the story.
Summary:
Hermione has been through the same things over and over again. She studies really hard, always helps her friends, battling against evil, always puts her loved ones first, so much responsibility for a 17-year-old girl. In spite of all that, her only escape to it all was reading. It was always enough for her to forget about all the things she has been through. and she thought that was it. That was all there was to life. But on the day before Bill and Fleur's wedding, she wakes up in the middle of an empty forest, unbeknownst to her that she had somehow ended up as a character in her beloved book which she also didn't know was a true story and is 8 years into the future. She ended up in Forks, the year 2005. And just like that, everything she knew about her fate has somehow changed.
Chapter 1: How to escape reality?
It was a typical Thursday night. They had all been getting ready for the wedding tomorrow. Hermione had just finished packing her small purple beaded handbag which had the undetectable extension charm on it. It held many of her possessions such as her wand, money, a few clothes, and more. She prepared it in case something unexpected comes up at the wedding tomorrow. After all, they were always on high alert since the return of the Dark Lord.
As she sat on her bed to rest, she suddenly wondered how her life would've been like if she never found out she was a witch. She sometimes daydreams about it. Her other life. When she thought she a normal girl, picturing her future was easy. Growing up, going to school, graduating, probably meeting the love of her life in the library. And getting married on a spring day. But her life wasn't that simple.
The day she got her letter on her 11th birthday, her parents were ecstatic. They had never in their life thought magic was possible. And as a professor from Hogwarts was explaining how things worked to Hermione's parents, they got more and more excited and couldn't hurry enough to send her to this school of witchcraft.
Hermione too was excited about all of it, it was very interesting to learn she had a gift not all possess. It was really the best birthday surprise she could receive that day.
But throughout the years in Hogwarts, she kept feeling that there was still something missing in her life. It confused her, she didn't know what else she was destined to do.
*thud* surprised by the sudden thump, Hermione's train of thoughts were cut-off, a glossy book had decided to fall off her shelf. Sighing in relief, she almost forgot about her most prized possession. Looking down at the book it had a picture of someone holding an apple, and simple word on it. "Twilight"
She remembered getting it for the first time, she never did find out who gave it to her, it was mysteriously laid on her bed one afternoon. With a small note with her name on it. She quickly adds it into her bag and puts it on her bed, just next to her in case she needed to grab it in a rush.
She lays down exhausted because of all the wedding preparations when she felt a small weight marking her chest. She slowly pulls at its golden chains till the pendant reveals itself. It was the "true time-turner." Its sparkling gold thread shining brightly and a clear hourglass in a starry gold plate with its rotating inner rings. Silently reading the inscription on it. "I mark the hours every one nor have I yet outrun the sun. My use and value unto you are gauged by what you have to do."
She remembers vividly how she got it, they were at battle in the Department of Mysteries. Where almost everything was destroyed.
Although all the remaining time turners were destroyed during the battle. She had secretly taken one, and it was a True Time-turner. It was the only secret she ever kept to herself. There were only two made in total, and they were not restricted by an Hour-Reversal Charm, unlike any normal time turner, this allowed one to travel back years or even decades.
There was only so little she could read up about it, as it was actually a forbidden artifact that could send her straight to Azkaban if she was caught with it. When she found out what it was, she felt it was better to keep it safe than for it to end up in the wrong hands. She found it too valuable to destroy. Plus... it was too pretty.
Thinking back on the last time her fingers had plucked on the dials of a time turner, She remembered returning her old one to Professor McGonagall on her third year because she thought it was too dangerous having something so powerful. That it allowed her to break the law and even help a prisoner of Azkaban escape.
With tons of different scenarios going through her mind and vision getting blurry from sleep. Her fingers remained at its knobs. She was already half asleep when the writing on the pendant started glowing. But too tired to even acknowledge it, dismissing it as a daydream. She shuts her eyes, and just like that she was gone...
8 years into the future
In the middle of a misted forest where there were no birds or even strong wind. Just dark clouds, mist, and trees. It was really quiet, almost peaceful.
For what seemed like hours, Hermione had laid there sleeping. Not knowing what was coming once she wakes up.
As the cold starts to reach her. Hermione stirred slightly, straining to get comfortable but it seemed impossible seeing that she had ended up using her bulky purple beaded handbag as a pillow the whole night.
Stretching her back and rubbing the sore spot on her neck, with eyes still closed as she reaches for her non-existent blanket. Hermione freezes as she feels the slightly wet ground at her fingertips.
Her eyes going bigger as she nervously takes in her surroundings.
"What is exactly happening right now?"
Tons of ridiculous scenarios were the thoughts running through her mind as she continues to search around for answers. Albeit her face remained calm. Slowly getting up and brushing off the mud and leaves from her clothes which had ended up getting dirty from sleeping in the woods all night as she calmly tries to collect herself.
As soon as she was done removing as much dirt off as she could from her clothes, she carefully picks up her bag from the forest ground. As she looks at it, she speculates that she might have accidentally used apparition in her sleep. Which slightly explains why she was able to bring her bag with her.
Nevertheless, she couldn't have possibly gone that far from The Burrows.
Without thinking twice she tries to apparate back, but instead of returning to the house. She only disappears for a few seconds and reappears in the exact same place she was standing on.
After failing to return home for the 3rd time, she starts to feel queasy from trying to apparate as she had only woken up a few minutes ago. She eventually gives up and just tries to find an exit of the forest instead.
It does take long when she finally comes across a small stream. Feeling relief to be able to clean off all the dirt from her hair, and hands. Even bringing out a change of clothes from her trusty handbag. She puts on a pink hoodie and jeans (think Prisoner of Azkaban), and doesn't forget to pocket her wallet. She finally feels refreshed, and ready to get out of there.
She spots a road across the end of the stream and quickly heads towards it in hopes of finding even a single person to help her figure out where she is. As she walks towards the empty road she worries about how late she is going to be at the wedding. It already seems to be the afternoon.
Finally reaching the road she suddenly stops. Breathing in deeply as the fresh crisp air fills her lungs. weird how even the air seemed different here. Again. the weird feeling of being in an unfamiliar place hits her. It was both scary and exhilarating.
Hermione didn't think too much of it as she didn't feel he was in any sort of danger. She was just a bit nervous, yet curious about this whole place she was in. She continues walking at the center of what seems like a dead-end road. The place was nearly empty, there were no houses along the roads, the sky was dark like it was about to rain, also it was really cold.
Everything around her is green, except for the road. She's starting to worry she isn't going be able to find anyone at all. She was getting anxious by the minute.
Not being able to calm her nerves she opens her bag and searches for something. She feels around at the corner pocket of her bag for the familiar handle of her wand. Instant relief floods her body as she finds it. She pulls it out only to put it in her front jean pocket. It always gives her a sense of security in case anything pops up from the woods. Good thing she was already allowed to use magic out of school since she had already turned seventeen.
Being spooked by all the thoughts of beasts, death eaters, and even the dark lord appearing before her she decides to apparate again.
As far as her eyes can see, there is an intersection 15 miles from where she currently is. Thinking she might see more from there, she disapparates without a second thought.
What she didn't expect as soon as she apparates was a car quickly heading towards her. Luckily having to gain quick reflexes from deflecting killing curses, she pulls out her wand and casts a shielding charm. Unfortunately, the spell had barely been completed, so the impact the vehicle delivered still reached her fully. Powerfully sending her flying back a few feet and hitting her head really hard.
Without even a moment to think, she blacks out.
