"Love is like the wind, you can't see it but you can feel it." -Nicolas Sparks

Chapter 15

Jacob reluctantly opened his eyes. The sun came in through the window pane and jumped up through the glass sitting on the nightstand next to him. He didn't know what was going on. Everything came in and faded out. Time was something that had been on a standstill for him. Ever since he lost Kagome, he didn't care about anything. Not even his pack. The lies that had been told to him accumulated in his mind and grew like vines as he tried to remember every significant detail that could tell him something about her.

When had everything changed?

When had she become something that he had not known?

He got up and stumbled out of his bed. His hand caught in his hair as he ran his hands over his head. His head had been causing him so much pain as of late. He couldn't understand where this pain had been coming from. He tried to find out. No remedy could be found. Neither medical nor native could cure him of the pain. This metaphorical gaping hole that is residing in his head. It wasn't going away anytime soon.

He stands in the door way and rests his forehead against the door hinge. This is what he had been doing for months. Going near and not leaving far from the house. He just didn't have it in him to go anywhere. Without Kagome, his life had been dull and without purpose. He can't think but mentally castrate himself for what he had done. He lost something most precious in his life. He didn't even know how he could move on.

Standing still, he listens to the sounds of everything around him. His heightened senses allow for him to hear everything. He listens as the wind blows through the trees. Leaves falling to the ground. Water rushing in the water near the reservation. The waves crashing against the thick, dense rock. He is surrounded by memories. He can still hear her laughs. Everything that Kagome had left as an imprint on his mind.

Every.

Little.

Thing.

The sounds engaged and engorged his mind. Sound was his way of seeing these days. As he concentrates to the sounds he hears a familiar sound as a car is making its way into his drive way. The car tires are familiar. He knows that it Charlie. Was he coming to see his father or something else? He was driving a little faster than normal and he wasn't sure what was going on. He heard Charlie click his car door closed. He was walking quickly and his heart was beating quickly and continued to get louder.

A loud-surround of the human heart.

"Billy!" Shouted the voice of Charlie Swann

Jacob had not been expecting Charlie to show up. He dashed down the stairs and tripped over a few as he made his way down. Deep inside he knew that this had something to do with Kagome and he was determined to find out what exactly was going on. His heart picked as he opened the door. His hand nimbly resting on the screen of the door and he pushes it open. "What's going on, Charlie," Billy says from behind Jacob.

"I can't find Kagome. She hasn't called or anything. She isn't the type of girl who would just disappear like this," Charlie said with a frown.

Jacob gazed at him and could see just how tired he was. It was as though he was frantically searching for Kagome. Kagome, what have you gotten yourself into? Jacob thought. Frantic thoughts impregnated Charlie's mind and Jacob was getting a glimpse into the things that was causing fear in this man's mind and he clenched his fists in anger. He knew that Kagome couldn't be in that much danger but who was he to say. He hadn't seen her in so long.

"Calm down, Charlie," Billy said. "Did you check all the usual places that she could be?"

"I have and she's nowhere. It's been almost two days, Billy."

Jacob opens the door and allows him to come in. He turns around as Charlie approaches Charlie. His eyes on transfixed on the ground and Jacob can tell that something is very wrong with Charlie. Jacob sniffs the air and can tell that he hasn't showered or probably even slept. He was tied in. This was more serious than he thought. What was going on?

He kept mumbling and fainted on the floor. Jacob caught him before he fell to the floor. The man had finally fallen asleep due to sleep deprivation. Jacob looked up at his father and raised an eyebrow. His father looked at him. "Where could she be," Billy asked.

Jacob shook his head. "I honestly don't know. I haven't seen her in a while. Not after . . . . ."

"Not after what, Jacob? Is there something that you're keeping from me?"

"No, Dad. Gimme a second," he replied as he picked up Charlie and placed him on the couch.

Billy watched his son with disbelief or at least was curious as to what had transpired with Kagome and Jacob. The two had literally been attached at the hip since childhood so it seemed strange that the two had not been together lately. Billy had been meaning to ask but assumed that it was because of hormones or something else. There was apparently something more than he could ever guess.

"Care to explain, Son?"

Jacob stood and looked down at his father. "Kagome is one of them."

"One of what, Jacob?"

Jacob pressed his fingers into his forehead and felt the pain returning. Every time he gandered to think of her, his head pulsated and hurt; he was not sure how he was going to explain this to his father. He wished his father could understand from the first word.

"Dad, Kagome is a vampire. Like the Cullen's."

His father's brow rose once more.

A/N: I apologize that this update has taken me so long. A lot has happened over the last few years. As an individual I had much to learn and I had. I'm now in college and look forward to completing this story. I had originally planned out this whole story but have managed to loose the frame work for that but I will be updating at least once a week to get this story complete. As you can tell the chapters are not that long and probably will not be that long as I continue to write because I want to finish like I had all those years ago as I had begun the story. Thank you for staying loyal. I promise you that this story will be complete and I will slowly but surely make the same progress on my other stories after this one is completed. I have many more planned. Perhaps a few one-shots. I'm getting back into writing. Wish me luck.
