A/N: Here is just a little one-shot inspired by the song "Check yes or no"

Do you love me, do you wanna be my friend?
And if you do, well then don't be afraid to take me by the hand
If you want to.
I think this is how love goes, check yes or no.

Fiyero Tiggular walked into the third grade classroom of Mrs. Perry. He quickly made his way to his seat, right behind Elphaba Thropp. She had on a nice black dress and her hair was tied up in a nice black ribbon with a small purple bow in the left side of her hair.

Later that day, when he got on the school bus, with Elphaba beside him, she kissed him. She giggled at his expression of shock and confusion. "Don't tell nobody." With that she ran to her best friend, Galinda Upland, still giggling.

The next day, Fiyero chased Elphaba around the small playground, like usual. Elphaba climbed over the monkey bars as Fiyero watched her from below. She jumped off and ran to the merry-go-round. She held on tight as Fiyero pushed the merry-go-round faster and faster. When they went back in Elphaba began to write something on a piece of paper. Halfway through the math lesson, a folded up piece of paper came onto Fiyero's desk. He quickly read what it said, "Do you love me? check yes or no." Underneath the writing was two little boxes. Mrs. Perry took the note from Fiyero but not before Elphaba saw his scribbled check next to the yes. Her smile didn't leave for the entire day.

Years later, they were both grown up and married to one another. They still acted like little kids on occasion. Like now, when Elphaba was running around the living room with Fiyero hot on her heels. She ran to the bedroom and ran around the bed before Fiyero tackled her and kissed her hotly on the mouth.

Later, Elphaba got on a nice dress and Fiyero a nice suit and they went together to dinner. Fiyero got a white limousine to come pick them up and as they were riding back home, he thought about how they got together thanks to a scribbled up note. He had begged Mrs. Perry to give the note back…when he was eighteen and engaged to Elphaba. He had actually got down on his knees and begged in front of the old woman. She still sends him Lurlinemas cards that make fun of him for that. He took the note out of his pocket and flattened it out to read it properly. The paper was now yellowing but the words were still as clear as crystal. "Do you love me?"

"Yes." Fiyero said out loud. Elphaba was falling asleep on his shoulder when he spoke so she looked up at him with tired eyes.

"What?" Elphaba asked.

"Yes. Your note."

"From third grade?"

"Yes."

"You are such a hopeless romantic." Fiyero pretended to be offended by that. "But you're my hopeless romantic." Elphaba said tiredly as she started to doze off. Fiyero pulled her closer and placed a kiss on her forehead.

In the driver's seat, Glinda was beaming at her best friend. She knew they would be together. Even if it was through a note. A very carefully made note. From your's truly.

End.
