Song in Summary: Ocean Breathes Salty - Modest Mouse

Author's Note: My two best friends, Steffanie and Meagann, and I were getting drunk one night and I was telling Steff how Meagann is one of my favorite people to talk about writing with because she has wonderful taste in ships. So Steffanie wanted to help as well...and help she did. This story ate me when I looked at her little ship list and I wrote it rather quickly. This one is for her, because she's one of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and I am proud to call her my good friend. No flames please, I understand this is a different pairing. And Edward is a little OOC. Please review if you read. -Delta

Toxic

"Her blood is…terribly tempting."

James had his hands deep in his pockets, looking up towards the sky. His hair blew around him like loose hay, swirling in the wind like a forlorn halo.

Edward should have killed him then; could feel the strength pour into his crystallized skeleton, seeping anger into his no-longer beating heart. He should have ripped him to pieces…should have…but didn't.

"But then again," James tapped a loose finger against his chin, smirking, "I'm sure at some point yours was too, Edward."

The marble statue behind James twitched and grimaced slightly, frozen into the block of ice that he was. James merely smiled and stepped closer.

"Actually," he stopped in front of Edward, and he hoped it was because the man was actually catching a little intelligence, "You still smell very…intoxicating."

Edward's breath caught and for a moment everything stopped; time and space and everything in between seemed to slow for them both. And then Edward saw it, the images flashing in James' mind.

Before he could make sense of any of the flashing images James leaned forward, his nose grazing Edward's neck, and inhaled deeply. The softest moan escaped the man's lips as he licked them carefully.

"Too bad I'm going to have to kill you."

The smile plastered on his face before he ran was something Edward will never forget.
