She liked the way he looked, the way he behaved, the way he was. Tall, dark hair, steely eyes, a cool and composed demeanor, observant, and only going along with schemes if he was needed. Not to mention he looked quite dashing in glasses. But there were only two problems.

One, she was madly in love with him. Madly in love, head over heels, utterly infatuated with him, and she knew it was going to be her demise. But in comparison to the second problem, this crush-turned-passion was nothing.

The second problem, that second glaring issue was that he was not Kyouya Ootori.

He was Takashi Morinozuka.

Renge was disappointed in herself for falling for the silent type of host, as she had aimed for the cool type only months earlier. Mori was not Kyouya, not even close. Kyouya was critical, cruel, a manipulator with no heart, with everything he did holding an ulterior motive or twenty. But he knew exactly what to do in any situation, and it was then he could be kind, a complete gentleman, and it was then he was at his most dangerous.

She was highly attracted to that danger, even more than she was attracted to him. He looked identical to Ichijo Miyabi, the man she wished was hers. But Kyouya wasn't Miyabi.

And neither was Mori.

It was an ongoing battle between her mind, her heart, and her duties. Her duties kept her close to Kyouya, in hopes of a mutually beneficial alliance, or even a merger. Her heart told her to pursue Mori, to be happy like her father wanted, and have a romance like the ones she dreamed about. Yet her mind, her completely insane mind, told her to stay away from both of them, to be her own woman and focus on herself rather than those boys. For once, it was logical.

Logic didn't win out, it never did.

But there was something all three, maybe all four, had agreed on: Renge was not going to be any one's girl. She knew she was intelligent, pretty, wealthy, imaginative, exuberant, kind, a complete catch to more than a few people. But she was also second best.

And she was always going to be second best to Haruhi Fujioka.

A/N: Cut short by request. Inspired by 'All I Ever Wanted' by Basshunter.

There was originally meant to be more, with a bit happiness for Ren, but mon cher ami Demi asked it be left as is. So I did.

I hoped you all enjoyed it, and for you to let me know if you did, and if there's anything I could improve.
