DISCLAIMER: was there ever a possibility of me owning JONAS? I still don't

Macy sat nervously at the sewing machine. Stella insisted that sewing was simple (she even taught Kevin how to use the sewing machine competently) and looked shocked when Macy informed her that no one in her family sewed. (Really Stella? Is it that so hard to believe?) Macy studied the complicated looking machine with apprehension. Stella buzzed around the sewing room, finally taking a seat on the table next to the sewing contraption. Macy found herself slightly amazed at how Stella could wear an old tee shirt, a worn pair jeans and a tape measure thrown around her neck and manage to make it look fashionable. Joe would be one lucky fella if he ever got his act together.

Stella presented two equal pieces of fabric with a confident smile.

"We'll practice with these" She wiggled the familiar blue plaid fabric that always found its way into her and the Lucas boys clothing.

"You sure?" Macy asked she gripped her seat feeling uneasy.

"Yes!" Stella told her, letting her hands drop to her thighs. "These are scrap pieces and everything will be fine, sewing's easy." Stella slid off the table and stepped behind Macy's chair- shoving her closer to the machine, her hands clapped on Macy's shoulders

"You got this." Stella promised.

Macy blew her hair up and Stella ordered her to roll up her long sleeves "Not fun to detangle" Stella confided.

Stella showed her how to work the foot pedal and thread to needle "Just be careful" Stella said as she demonstrated how to position the fabric. "With the needle" she finished.

"What do you mean?" Macy asked regretting this whole thing for the umpteenth time.

"Well," Stella leaned against the table "one time my grandma accidentally sewed through her finger, nail and all"

Macy's jaw dropped in shock "Was she okay?"

Stella waved a hand dismissively "Oh yeah, it healed fine, the fingernail grew back and she got a great story out of it. Just be aware of your extremities in relation to the needle."

Macy couldn't get the visual out of her head.

"Okay, we'll keep this simple, just a straight line. You know how to work the pedal, here's the fabric, lay it- yep just like that. Now gently push down, start slow and get comfy."

Macy glued her eyes to the project at hand and started off.

Stella stepped back watching Macy carefully

"That's it."

"You're doing great!" Stella encouraged.

"Practically a pro" she cooed "How awesome of a teacher am I?" She further boasted as Macy sewed her third straight line.

"Here let me show you something" Stella squeezed her way in beside Macy and moved her hands over the fabric "Go on push the pedal" Stella ordered, Macy gently pressed the pedal down.

"AAAHHHHHHHHH!" Stella screamed, making Macy scream thinking, she had sewed right through her best friend's finger. Macy removed her foot form the pedal immediately, her mind racing, wondering how long it would take to get the hospital with traffic and who could watch Stella's little brother.

Stella started to laugh, loud completely unladylike laughter. Her hand clutched at her side- as she sucked in deep breaths between bouts of laughter.

"Stella!" Macy shouted swatting at her friends arm "I thought I sewed through your finger!" Stella nodded, her eyes were squeezed shut tears leaking out "I know!" she breathed out, still laughing. Macy turned and pouted feeling her heart recoup from the deathly scare.

"Oh, you should've seen your face!" Stella told her "I just wish I had a camera." Stella giggled more

"Glad you had your fun" Macy quipped

"Oh Macy you know I love you"

Stella hugged her friend from the side.

"Yeah yeah"

"I can't wait to tell the guys"

"I'm never sewing again."

My first sewing lesson on the sewing machine, my mother did this to me. I did sew again, but then I thought how funny it would be for Stella to do the same thing to Macy.
