Chapter 13 – Reminisce

"W-we need to h-help Raven," Timid stuttered from behind Brave's cloak.

"How?" Brave crossed her arms.

"We need to help Raven remember faster than she already is," Knowledge suggested.

"And how do we do that?" Brave frowned.

"Raven has all the memories," Knowledge replied. "She just can't access them."

"Well how do we access them?" Brave demanded.

"Her memories are scattered and buried throughout Nevermore," Knowledge replied. "I've already found a few."

"Is it possible to kick-start the other emotions showing up?" Brave wondered aloud.

"Probably," Knowledge pushed her glasses up her nose. "We just need to find the memories that would trigger those emotions."

"Really we just need Love," Brave muttered.

"Well then we need to find all the memories she has with Garfield," Knowledge smiled. The three emotions looked at each other and sighed dreamily in unison.

"So where do we start?" Brave finally asked once the three were finished daydreaming.

"I suggest at the beginning," Knowledge stated. "The very beginning."

- Scene Break -

It was the first day of school. Raven tugged at the ends of her white cloak. All six year olds started with the generic white to represent their purity. Raven looked up at her mother, Arella. Her mother. So kind and loving, but sad. Raven could see it in her mother's dark eyes. Raven had inherited her mother's dark eyes and purple hair.

"But Mother," she whispered. "I do not want to go to school today."

"Nonsense my child," Arella gave her a smile that did not reach her eyes. "All children of Azeroth must attend the school."

"I would much rather stay home and make cookies with you," Raven begged.

"It is an honour to attend the Azeroth Academy for Gifted Youngsters," Arella replied, gently ruffling her daughter's hair. "All children receive gemstones on their Ajna chakra when they turn six, and then attend the Academy to learn about their powers. The Monks will teach you to use your powers."

"What type of powers do you think I will have?" Raven asked.

"I do not know my child," Arella smiled sadly. "However, I will say that the Monks will not have seen anything like you before." Then she took Raven by the hand and walked her to school.

Raven looked at the other children. Boys and girls dressed in the traditional white robes, holding the hands of their mothers and fathers. All eyes seemed to be on Raven.

"Mother," Raven hid into her mother's cloak. "They're looking at me."

"Mother, Father, look at that child," an obnoxious girl with yellow hair pointed at Raven. "She's grey."

"Hush now Moruga," the mother sternly reprehended the child. She looked up and started when she saw Arella. Hurriedly, she ushered her child away.

"What was that all about?" Raven asked.

"Never you mind my child," Arella stooped down and kissed the gemstone on Raven's forehead. "You just do your best today, and tell me all about it when you come home."

- Scene Break -

"I remember that day," Knowledge muttered.

"Th-that was the day everything ch-changed," Timid stuttered. She turned to the green-cloaked emotion. "Y-you w-weren't there yet. Knowledge and I have b-been around the l-longest."

"Isn't this a little extreme?" Brave folded her arms over her chest. "Rebooting Raven's memories from this age?"

"We could start from when she was a baby," Knowledge stated dryly. "However, there's not much there. These are the memories when things really start to define who Raven is."

"Fine," Brave muttered. "If it means getting more emotions, I guess I can put up with watching Raven be such a wimp."

"D-don't worry," Timid smiled. "Y-you show up p-pretty quickly."

"Good," Brave smiled. "Let's keep at it then."

- Scene Break -

"Good morning class," the monk stood at the head of the class, the students all sitting on the floor in front of him.

"Good morning Monk Gyatso," the class recited. Then there was silence for roll call.

"Moruga Barychelidae," the monk called.

"Present," a girl with red hair and dark eyes replied.

"Canidae Dusicyon,"

"Present," a boy with dirty-blonde hair and brown eyes replied.

"Sylvilagus Floridanus,"

"Present," a girl with brown eyes and dark eyes replied.

"Equus Hemionus,"

"Present," a boy with white-blonde hair and dark eyes replied.

"Euphaedra Janetta,"

"Present," a girl with blue hair and amber eyes replied.

"Panthera Leo,"

"Present," a boy with golden hair and brown eyes replied.

"Argia Nahuana,"

"Present," a boy with black hair and blue eyes replied.

"Melody Pond,"

"Present," a girl with frizzy light-brown hair and green eyes replied. The monk opened his mouth to say the next name, but paused. There was an uncomfortable silence as the monk stared at the name in front of him. Finally he broke the silence and spoke the next name.

"Raven Roth," more silence as the students turned to each other and shrugged.

"Here," Raven raised her hand. Monk Gyatso peered at her over his scroll.

"Bufo Terrestris,"he said after another uncomfortable silence.

"Present," replied a boy with red hair and dark eyes.

"Odocoileus Virginianus,"

"Present," a boy with brown hair and brown eyes replied.

"Rosa Xanthina,"

"Present," a girl with blonde hair and amber eyes replied.

"Platanthera Zothecina,"

"Present," a girl who had purple hair and dark eyes just like Raven replied.

"Good, now that's everyone." The monk smiled through his long white mustache. "The first thing young Azarathians need to learn is to meditate. Does anyone here know the ancient meditation words?" Raven's hand shot up. "Raven?"

"The ancient meditation words are Azarath Metrion Zinthos," Raven stated matter-of-factly.

"Very good Raven," Monk Gyatso smiled at her. "Can anyone demonstrate the traditional meditation stance?" Raven's hand shot up again. "Raven?"

"The traditional Azarathian meditation stance is like this," Raven twisted her legs so that she was sitting cross-legged. She touched her index finger to her thumb, and faced them away from her body.

"Very good Raven," Monk Gyatso nodded his head.

"Teacher's pet,"Moruga muttered to Equus. He nodded his head.

"Moruga, Equus," Monk Gyatso frowned at the two youngsters. "That's quite enough. Now would the rest of you please assume the traditional meditation stance?" The students obeyed. "Now close your eyes, find your centre, and chant. If you have done everything correctly, you will start to levitate off of the ground like this." The monk assumed the meditation stance and lifted off of the ground. "As you improve, you will levitate before you start meditating. Now everyone chant the ancient words."

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos," the class chanted together. Raven levitated off of the ground immediately.

"Well done Raven," the monk patter her on the shoulder as he made his way through the classroom.

"Show off," muttered Moruga.

"Shush now Moruga," Monk Gyatso scolded. "Your jealousy is holding you back." Moruga muttered something inaudible. "Concentrate." He reprimanded her gently. The day passed slowly, and gradually the other students began to levitate off of the ground. Eventually the school bell rang, signalling the end of the day. The parents of the students began to come in to collect their children.

"How was your day Moruga?" Moruga's mother had flaming red hair like her daughter, but green eyes.

"It would have been better if someone hadn't been such a show-off," Moruga emphasized the word 'someone', and glared at Raven.

"Now child," Moruga's mother totted. "That's not…" She trailed off as Arella entered the classroom to collect Raven.

"That's the show-off," Moruga pointed at Raven.

"Arella Roth's daughter?" Moruga's mother had gone white as a sheet. The other parents stopped talking amongst themselves and turned to look. "Arella Roth's daughter?" She emphasized the word 'Roth'.

"You let your daughter come here?" another parent gasped. "With our precious children? Do you know what danger you've put them all in?"

"Now that's quite enough," Monk Gyatso stepped smoothly in between Raven and the disapproving glares of the other parents. "Every young Azarathian has the right to an education." The parents took their children by the hand, and marched them out.

"Thank-you Gyatso," Arella smiled at the monk.

"Of course Arella," Monk Gyatso smiled. "I will take personal responsibility for Raven's safety."

"Gyatso!" the monk, Arella, and Raven turned to see another monk in the doorway with Moruga and her mother behind him looking smug.

"Tashi," Gyatso bowed to his colleague.

"What do you think you are doing letting this devil-child into the Academy?" Monk Tashi jabbed his finger into Monk Gyatso's chest. Raven blinked and wondered what the monk meant by 'devil child'.

"This is not a discussion that we should be having in front of the child," Gyatso placed his hand on Raven's shoulder.

"She will destroy us all…" Monk Tashi began.

"Now, now Tashi," Gyatso interrupted. "We must discuss this with Headmaster Pasang."

"So be it," Monk Tashi narrowed his eyes. "Headmaster!" There was silence, and then another monk phased through the floor in front of them.

"Ah, Headmaster Pasang," Monk Tashi bowed his head to the headmaster.

"Monk Tashi," the Headmaster held up his hand for silence. "This is most unprofessional. If you wish to discuss a student, the student must never be in the room."

"This is an exception Headmaster," Monk Tashi insisted. "That's Arella Roth's daughter, Raven. You know what hell she will bring down upon us."

"That is hardly the child's fault," the headmaster replied. "Our job is to provide education to all young Azarathians. That includes young Raven here."

"Headmaster," Gyatso spoke softly. "I have promised Arella that I will take personal responsibility for Raven's education and safety."

"Very good Gyatso," Headmaster Pasang smiled. "I name you Raven's personal guardian and mentor." He turned to Monk Tashi, Moruga, and her mother. "Now for you. Be gone with you all, and hope that I never hear of this again!"

- Scene Break -

"I remember that meeting," Knowledge frowned.

"A-as do I," Timid tugged at her cloak.

"I don't," Brave muttered.

"You still weren't there yet," Knowledge pushed her glasses up her nose.

"You told me I showed up soon," Brave crossed her arms at the grey-cloaked emotion, who then hid behind Knowledge.

"You do," the yellow-cloaked emotion assured the green-cloaked emotion. "Just not yet."

"Fine," Brave huffed. "Let's keep going."

- Scene Break -

"Mother, I do not want to go to school." Raven hid under her sheets.

"Raven," Arella crossed her arms. "You will disappoint Monk Gyatso. He has promised to educate and protect you. You don't want to let him down do you?" Raven peeked out from under her sheets.

"No Mother," she climbed out of bed. "I do not want to disappoint Monk Gyatso. His kindness will not go unappreciated. However, I want to know what Monk Tashi was talking about. Am I a devil child? Why does Moruga and her mother hate me?"

"You must be brave my child," Arella smiled sadly. "There are dark days coming for you yet. I promise you will understand all of this in time, but not today my child. Not today. You are not ready."

"Alright Mother," Raven nodded. "I shall be brave. For you, for Monk Gyatso, and for myself."

- Scene Break -

"See?" Knowledge smiled.

"I remember this," Brave pumped her fist.

"Th-this is when you f-first arrived," Timid scuffed her foot on the ground. "I-it was n-nice for Knowledge and I to have some c-company." She smiled at the green-cloaked emotion.

"This is taking too long," Brave groaned.

"We have to be patient," Knowledge stated. "There is no point facing Rage with so few of us here."

"I have a question," Brave crossed her arms.

"Yes?" Knowledge peered over the top of her glasses at the emotion.

"If we're seeing this, does that mean Raven's seeing it too?"

"I-I would imagine so," Timid replied. "Th-they are her memories. W-we ultimately n-need her help to defeat R-Rage." She shivered.

"Fine," Brave huffed again. "These memories are painful though. I hope we start getting some backup soon."

- Scene Break -

"Raven!" Raven turned to see Melody running towards her with Euphaedra in tow. Raven blinked at them.

"Hi," she finally said.

"W-we wanted to say s-something to Moruga y-yesterday," Euphaedra smiled shyly.

"We were too scared," Melody admitted. "So to make up for it, we'd like to be your friends."

"Friends?" Raven blinked.

"Th-there's a few of us," Euphaedra tugged at her hair. "W-we were the only ones b-brave enough to approach you."

"Moruga's Mom called my parents and told them to tell me to stay away," Melody rolled he eyes.

"Mine t-too," Euphaedra stated.

"How do you know?" Raven blinked, feeling an overwhelming sadness and dread.

"B-because my p-parents told me to stay away," Euphaedra admitted.

"Mine told me that I can make my own decisions," Melody grinned. "My parents are very open-minded."

"I know that S-Sylvilagus, Argia, Rosa, and P-Platanthera also want to be your friend." Euphaedra smiled at Raven. "However it s-sounds like Moruga's Mom also got to their p-parents, who have in turn f-forbidden them to speak to you."

"So, do you want to be our friend?" Melody asked.

"Yes," Raven smiled, and for the first time she felt happy.

"Hey everyone," Melody turned and yelled at the small group of other students that Euphaedra had listed. "She said 'yes'!" Immediately, they all flocked towards her smiling.

- Scene Break -

"Surprise!" Knowledge, Brave, and Timid almost jumped out of their shoes. Standing in front of them was a pink-cloaked emotion. "This is where I showed up!" She giggled uncontrollably.

"It's g-good to s-see you Happy," Timid hugged the emotion.

"It's good to see you all too!" Happy beamed. "Didn't think you'd get rid of me that easily did you?" She giggled some more.

"Not ever," Brave grinned. "Give me some love you!" She noogied the emotion.

"Actually," Timid spoke up. "L-Love is j-just who we need."

"Well it's going to be a while before Love shows up," Knowledge sighed.

"I don't understand," Brave crossed her arms. "Love should be here. We all loved our Mother. We all loved Arella. Why isn't she here?"

"Love wasn't strong enough to become a physical emotion," Knowledge replied. "Not until we met Garfield." Here the emotions sighed dreamily in unison.

"Let's keep watching! Let's keep watching!" Happy jumped up and down, clapping her hands together. "It'll be fun!"

"You have a strange definition of 'fun' Happy," Brave muttered. "Let's keep going. Hopefully there will be more of us soon."

- Scene Break -

Raven sat happily with her new friends on the floor. She had never had friends before. It felt good. It helped her forget that almost half of the class was sitting a deliberate distance away from her.

"Good morning class," Monk Gyatso strode into the classroom.

"Good morning Monk Gyatso," chimed the students. He frowned when he saw the divide amongst them.

"Today we will learn about mindscapes," he took his place at the head of the room. "Can anyone tell me the purpose of a mindscape?" Raven's hand shot up. "Raven?"

"An Azarathian's power is driven by emotion," Raven stated. "A mindscape is for storing the different sides of your personality so that you know where the strength of your power comes from. It's different for every Azarathian."

"Very good Raven," Monk Gyatso nodded in approval.

"Know-it-all," Moruga muttered to her new band of followers.

"That's quite enough Moruga," Monk Gyatso gently scolded the girl. "Now class, it's important that you each have a physical portal to your mindscapes for meditation. Something of sentiment is ideal. I have this." He gestured to his necklace. It was carved with the spirals that were traditional of the Order of the Monks. "This belonged to my great-great-grandmother. It has been passed down from monk to monk upon initiation into the Order. I will take you all to my mindscape now." There was a swirl of white energy, and the students found themselves in a temple surrounded by clouds. "Welcome class, to my mindscape. I call it the Southern Air Temple."

"Why the 'Southern Air Temple' Monk Gyatso?" asked Melody.

"Because it sounds good," the monk smiled. The class all giggled. "Now who can tell me the different sides of each Azarathian's personality?" Raven's hand shot up. "Raven?"

"Happiness which is characterized by pink, Timidity which is characterized by grey, Bravery which is characterized by green, Rudeness which is characterized by orange, Knowledge which is characterized by yellow, Love which is characterized by purple, Sloppiness which is characterized by brown, Calmness which is characterized by blue, and…" She trailed off, and swallowed hard. "Rage. Which is characterized by red. An Azarathian's default is Purity which is characterized by white. Blue and White are more states of mind than actual personalities though."

"Very good Raven," Monk Gyatso smiled. "As an Azarathian ages, her or his cloak will change its colour based on her or his core personality. Your goal is to ascend back to Purity where all of your emotions are in perfect balance with each other."

"I think someone will end up having a red cloak," Moruga muttered to her groupies, emphasizing the word 'someone'.

"Moruga that is quite enough," Monk Gyatso totted. "Now here are my different emotions." The class looked around to see several Monk Gyatso's in the colours that Raven had described. "You'll notice there is not a white emotion here." Gyatso gestured to his doppelgangers. "Can anyone tell me why?" Raven's hand shot up. "Raven?"

"Because you've ascended to Purity," she stated. "It's your core personality."

"Very good Raven," Monk Gyatso patted her on the head.

"I bet you'll end up with a yellow cloak, Raven!" Melody elbowed Raven in the ribs. "Because you're so smart."

"Thanks Melody," Raven blushed. "I think you'll get green."

"I'll p-probably get g-grey," Euphaedra smiled shyly.

"M-me too!" Agria smiled shyly, and tugged at his loin-cloth.

"As long as no-one gets red," Sylvilagus grimaced. "Any Azarathian who turned bad, had a red cloak. I hope I get pink!" She grinned.

"Me too!" Platanthera agreed.

"Since I'm the only one with a physical portal to my mindscape, I will guide you to each of your mindscape." Monk Gyatso waved his hand for silence. "We will go alphabetically. Moruga, you will be first. Assume your meditation stance, and say the ancient words."

Moruga muttered something before sitting cross-legged on the floor, "Azarath Metrion Zinthos, Azarath Metrion Zinthos, Azarath Metrion Zinthos." The scenery disappeared, and reformed as a castle with massive marble statues of Moruga everywhere.

"I think I'll call it Moruga's Magnificence," Moruga stated smugly.

"Good, Moruga." Monk Gyatso smiled. "Now concentrate, and your emotions will appear. Then your cloak will change based on your core personality." The class turned at the sound of footsteps. Multiple versions of Moruga descended the stairs towards them. All colours except for one, orange. Moruga's cloak in turn became orange to reflect her core personality. Rudeness.

"I correctly predicted that," Raven smirked at her friends who giggled.

- Scene Break -

Knowledge, Timid, Brave, and Happy looked up at the sound of a long and loud belch.

"What's up losers?" Rude picked her nose and flicked the snot at Timid who shrieked and hid behind Happy. "Having a loser party?"

"I'm so glad to see you," Happy flung her arms around the orange-cloaked emotion. "The more of us there are, the better!"

"Please tell me someone cooler is on her way," Rude shoved the pink-cloaked emotion aside, yawned, and scratched her backside.

"That would depend on your definition of 'cool'," Brave replied, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Well there isn't anyone lamer than this one," Rude jerked her thumb at the cowering Timid. "Oh wait, that's right, you're all lame." Then she spat on the ground.

"P-please can we k-keep watching?" Timid squeaked. "W-we need as m-many of us as p-possible to d-defeat Rage."

"Well considering how lame you all are, I would say that's a lost cause." Rude snorted.

"Do you want Rage to win?" Brave asked.

"Nah," Rude belched again. "She's pretty lame too."

"Then be quiet, and help." Brave challenged.

"Fine," Rude shrugged. "Whatever. You losers keep watching. I'm having a nap." She lay down on the ground, and was soon snoring loudly. Brave stuck her tongue out at the now snoozing emotion.

"Not many of us left to appear," Knowledge pushed her glasses up her nose again.

"Good," Brave muttered. "Because I really don't want to have to interact with that one more than I have to." She jerked her thumb at the snoring emotion.

"F-feeling's m-mutual," Timid squeaked. "L-let's keep w-watching."

- Scene Break -

The class had gone through most of students' mindscapes. Besides Moruga, Equus had also ended up with an orange cloak. Canidae's cloak turned yellow, Sylvilagus' cloak turned pink, Euphaedra and Argia's cloaks turned grey, and Panthera and Melody's cloaks turned green. Now it was Raven's turn.

Raven levitated and spoke the ancient words, "Azarath Metrion Zinthos." Melody's mindscape which she called the T.A.R.D.I.S. and looked like something directly out of a science-fiction television show, disappeared. In its place appeared Raven's mindscape. Darkness. Suspended in the darkness of space with red stars. The entirety of the class stood on a small rock floating in the middle of the space.

"Wow," Equus rolled his eyes. "Creepsville."

"Nevermore," Raven corrected.

"Definitely Creepsville," Bufo crossed his arms over his chest.

"Um R-Raven," Agria scuffed his foot on the rock. "W-where are the rest of your e-emotions?" As soon as the question had left his lips, an emotion phased through the ground in front of him. "Who is th-this now?"

"I'm Knowledge," the yellow-cloaked emotion pushed her glasses up her nose.

"That's what I thought would be your core personality," Melody blinked. "If it isn't, then what is?" Another emotion phased through the ground. "Which one is this one?"

"I'm T-Timid," the grey-cloaked emotion whispered. Then another emotion phased through the ground.

"I'm Brave," the green-cloaked emotion gave the class a thumbs-up. "How's it going?"

"Hey she's cool!" Melody grinned. Then another emotion phased through the ground.

"Hello everyone!" the pink-cloaked emotion giggled. "I'm Happy! So happy, and just a little bit dopey. Okay, a lot dopey!" Then she collapsed on the ground laughing. Another emotion phased through the ground.

She burped, "Well hello there losers. Look at you all. Why you're just a precious little rainbow of cloaks aren't you?"

"Rude!" Brave barked at the orange-cloaked emotion. "That's quite enough. Leave them alone!" Another emotion phased through the ground. Her cloak was rumpled and dirty. "Oh great it's Sloth." The emotion's cloak was brown, but it was hard to tell if it was naturally that colour or just dirty. The emotion's hair was unwashed and unkempt. "Nothing to say." The emotion shrugged. The stench of perspiration wafted from her. "Ugh, you need a bath."

"R-Raven," Euphaedra spoke up. "Th-there aren't that m-many emotions left." Another emotions phased through the ground. All of Raven's friends held their breath.

"Who's this now?" Bufo asked.

"Love, Love, Love," the purple-cloaked emotion sang out. The entire class gasped in unison, and even Monk Gyatso looked alarmed.

"Th-that means," Argia was too scared to even finish his sentence. Everyone watched in horror as Raven's cloak transformed from pure-white to blood-red.

"Told you," Moruga smirked. Panthera chuckled. Immediately the class found themselves back in the classroom.

"Raven, you shall come with me," Gyatso gently took her hand. Monk Tashi phased through the floor.

"What did I say Gyatso?" he demanded. "She is the Devil's daughter. She will bring death to us all!"

"That is quite enough Tashi," Monk Gyatso held his hand up for silence. "Now you will take over teaching my class. I will continue instructing Raven on my own. She will rejoin the class when she is ready."

"On your own head be it Gyatso!" Monk Tashi growled.

"Monk Gyatso," Raven's voice started to change. "What is happening to me?" Her voices were split, her normal voice layered with a terrible voice that made the temperature in the room plummet.

"The child will be the death of us all Gyatso!" Monk Tashi bellowed. "Just look at her!" The whole class gasped. Instead of two eyes, glaring out from underneath her red hood were four red eyes. "Devil-child!"

"Devil-child!" bellowed Moruga and her gang. Monk Gyatso took Raven by the hand, and gently led her out of the classroom. Away from the taunting cries of her peers.

"Monk Gyatso?" the dual voices of Raven asked.

"I am so sorry my child," the old monk looked at her sadly. "This was prophesized to happen."

"Prophesized?"

"When you are older, this all will be revealed to you," the old monk reassured her. "Until then you must be taught to control the darkness within you. Otherwise it will destroy you, and all that you hold dear. I am sorry Raven, but your emotions are dangerous. You must learn to control them. Meditate now child." Raven assumed the meditation stance.

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos,"

"Repress your Rage," Gyatso instructed her sadly. Raven focussed on pushing the hatred she felt back, forcing it down, chaining it in a cave far on the other side of Nevermore. It seemed like an eternity before Gyatso spoke again. "Good now child. You may stop for now." Raven opened her eyes. Her cloak had gone from red to blue.

"Is it over?" she asked, her voice quavering.

"I'm afraid not my child," Monk Gyatso smiled sadly. "You must meditate every day to keep your Rage, and therefore your power, in check."

"I don't understand," a tear escaped down Raven's grey cheek. "What am I?"

"You are Raven Roth," Monk Gyatso patted her shoulder.

"That's not an answer," Raven wailed.

"Oh my child," Monk Gyatso shook his head. "It is."

- Scene Break -

"I don't know how helpful this is," Brave muttered.

"Rage is just as much a part of Raven as the rest of us," Knowledge sighed. "We cannot deny her."

"Yeah," Rude snorted. "That's Raven's job."

"Well I think we're all here now," Knowledge pushed her glasses up her nose.

"W-wait!" Timid squeaked. "W-we can't stop n-now!"

"Timid's right," Brave sighed. "If we leave her memories now, she will think that Rage is all she truly is."

"Sh-she hasn't m-met the T-Titan's yet," Timid pointed out. "Sh-she needs t-to remember them if she hopes to b-break from Slade's g-grip."

"She specifically needs to remember Garfield," Knowledge smiled. "He's what we need for Love to get stronger."

"So we need to keep watching this junk?" Rude whined. "It's so boring!"

"We don't have a choice," Knowledge pushed her glasses up her nose.

"Fine," Rude grumbled. "Wake me up when something interesting happens."

- Scene Break -

"Devil child!" Raven flinched at the barrage of words from the various parents. "Go to Hell where you belong!"

"That's quite enough," Monk Gyatso swiftly placed his hands protectively on Raven's shoulders. "She is only a child."

"She is the Devil's spawn," Moruga's mother pointed her perfectly manicured finger in Raven's face.

"If you do not desist," Monk Gyatso did not flinch. "I shall have to call the headmaster."

"Go ahead," Moruga's father sniffed. "We'll see just how far your little school is willing to back this Devil Child when they are threatened with losing our financial support."

"Enough!" everyone jumped as Headmaster Pasang phased through ground. "This has gone far enough."

"Thank-you Headmaster," Moruga's father smirked. "Now how shall we dispose of this spawn of the Devil?"

"That is quite enough out of you sir," Headmaster Pasang pointed at Moruga's father. "You will leave Raven alone."

"Sir!" Moruga's parents protested in unison. "She will be the death of us all!"

"You will leave Raven alone," Headmaster Pasang repeated patiently.

"She will bring about the destruction of Azeroth!" Bufo's father interjected. "The planet will burn! As will its people! There is no way to stop it! You know the Prophecy! If you allow her to live, you condemn everyone to death!"

"Enough!" Headmaster Pasang raised his hand to silence the mob. "Those of you who have issues with Raven will leave immediately. You will not harm her in any way. Is that understood?"

"How can you stand by and let us suffer the consequences?" the shrill voice of Bufo's mother made Raven cringe. "We cannot allow that…that thing to live!" She pointed at Raven as she said 'thing'.

"I insist that you leave," Headmaster Pasang repeated pleasantly. "This is a place of harmony. Where all children are safe."

"If that were truly the case you would not be allowing that Devil-Spawn into the building," a tear escaped out of Raven's dark eye and ran down her cheek. She felt about two inches tall.

"You will all leave," there was a quiet forcefulness to Headmaster Pasang's voice that silenced the shrill woman. "Leave Raven in peace. She is under the strict protection of the Monks of Azeroth, and you will honour that."

"No Headmaster," Monk Tashi phased through the ground. "The Monks of Azeroth will not stand idly by while you set out to destroy the world."

"This is treason Tashi," Headmaster gathered himself up to his full height. "You will not betray The Monks' cause. You will be taken to The Temple where the rest of us will judge your actions this day." He turned to Raven. "Now run home child. You have done nothing wrong little one. Now run home to your Mother. She will look after you." Raven started to run. Her vision was blurred with tears.

"No!" Bufo's father screamed. Raven looked over her shoulder. "Necronom Hezberek Mortix!" Raven froze as the dark magic surged towards her. She closed her eyes, preparing for the end. It didn't come. Raven opened her eyes to see Headmaster Pasang crumpled on the ground in front of her.

"No!" the scream hurtled out of Raven's lips, and a wave of black energy surged from her body. The wave knocked everyone off their feet and at least fifty paces back from their original positions.

"Gyatso," Raven turned to see Headmaster Pasang feebly reaching out his hand. Monk Gyatso ran to his mentor's side. "You must take Raven to the Temple. She will be safe there. The Monks will protect her."

"On my life," Monk Gyatso promised. "She will be protected Headmaster."

"Now you must go," Headmaster Pasang whispered. "Raven, come child." Raven stumbled towards them, eyes filled with tears. "You must go with Gyatso. He will take you to the rest of the Monks. They will protect you."

"What about my Mother," Raven choked out.

"She will join you," Headmaster Pasang promised faintly. "The Monks will protect you both. Now go." Monk Gyatso extended his hand to Raven, who took it. Then everything went dark.

- Scene Break –

"Ugh, can we please skip ahead?" Rude whined. "I really don't want to watch the next decade of living with the Monks, hiding in that wretched Temple, repressing ourselves. All while angry parents stand outside the gates and threaten our lives.

"She has a point," Knowledge pushed her glasses up her nose. This earned a raised eyebrow from Rude. "Nothing important happens during that time."

"All those in favour of skipping ahead ten years?" Brave raised her hand.

"I," Knowledge raised her hand.

"I-I," Timid raised her hand. Rude burped, and Sloth gave a non-committal shrug.

"I'm going to assume that's an 'I' from both of you," Brave muttered. "Skipping ahead…now."
