Percy was walking home one day from work when he had a sudden urge for a coffee. He kept walking until he found the nearest coffee shop and walked in and ordered himself a large cup.
"You can wait at a table. We'll call your order up when it's ready," the lady behind the counter said.
Percy nodded and sat at the nearest table and waited for his coffee.
"One large de-caf," they called.
Percy stood up and walked toward the counter. He reached out for the cup and his hand met another person's.
"Oh I'm sorry. Did we order the same thing?" the hand was apparently a woman's.
"I guess we did. But you can have that one," Percy said. He looked at the woman and the woman gasped.
"What?" Percy asked.
"Oh nothing," she said. "You just look like someone I knew when I was younger."
"Weird. Well, have a nice day," Percy said to the woman and she took the coffee and walked out the door.
The rest of the night he laid awake pondering who that woman was. She was familiar to him, too. He should have asked her name.
The next day he went to the coffee shop at the same time and ordered the same thing.
He didn't see the woman this time. Today was Friday and he wasn't doing anything this weekend so he went home, packed his bags, and drove.
When he got to Camp Half-Blood, he walked directly to the Big House.
"Knock knock," Percy said.
Chiron turned his head. "Perseus Jackson. Welcome back, my boy."
The shook hands and began to chat. "So how's camp been, Chiron?"
"Been going smoothly. You have a little sister. Her name is Shelly and she arrived about two weeks ago. You should meet her."
"Wow. A little sister. How's Grover?" Percy asked.
"On a mission as we speak. Should be getting back today, though. Actually-" Chiron started, but was interrupted.
"Chiron, I can't find him anywhere! I've called his place loads of times and he's just not answering!" said a girl's voice. "Oh. My. Gods."
Percy turned to see coffee shop woman with a hand over her mouth.
"Percy," she whispered.
"Annabeth," he whispered.
"Percy." she said more loudly.
"Annabeth."
"Percy!"
"Annabeth!" She ran to him like in the movies and jumped on him. They fell and hit the ground. She was on top of him and he was under her.
"I've missed you," she whispered.
"Ditto. Why were you in New York?" Percy asked her.
"Um, work?" she said.
Percy didn't believe that. "Okay. Now tell me really why you were there."
Annabeth sighed. "Fine. I was following a boy."
Percy's face fell. "Oh."
Annabeth rolled her eyes. "You, Seaweed Brain."
"Me? Really?"
"You. Really." she said.
"But why?" Percy asked.
"Percy, just shut-up and kiss me already."
