Author's Note: This is a very short idea that I wrote out quickly before leaving to go to the airport haha! I needed to get it out of my system before I left since it was so short and cute. I'm writing more short and long fics during the plane ride too :P They've taken over my brain!
Eames and Arthur stood near each other in the airport, watching Cobb leave.
"Whew!" Eames said, exhaling. "What a ride that was."
"Yeah, I guess. At least we got away with it."
Eames chuckled. "Darling, you're always so calm. I take it you escaped the security?"
Arthur frowned at him. "Yes, obviously since I got all of you out safely and I'm still here."
"You sound bitter," Eames said as he found his suitcase and got a hold of it. "You shouldn't talk about Ariadne and Saito that way."
Arthur just ignored him as he waited for his suitcase to show up. Eames pointed at a very shiny bag.
"Is that it?"
"No, Eames, that is not it. I have eyes, I can spot my own bag."
"You're very tense right now," Eames said, putting his hands up as if to surrender.
"I'm just glad that this nightmare is over."
"So am I, but I feel relieved, not tense."
Arthur turned and glared at him. "I was referring to working with you. You have not left yet, so I can't feel relieved," he smiled bitterly. "You have your suitcase. What are you still doing here?"
"Waiting for you, Love," Eames said, smiling. Arthur just didn't seem to understand that the madder he was, the happier Eames was. At least most of the time. "Come now, I couldn't possibly be the worst part of this job."
"You're right. Fighting security without gravity was tough. But at least it was cool."
Eames paused, sensing the bait for a real argument. Oh Arthur, you better be ready for this. "Are you saying my job wasn't cool?"
"I don't know, was it?"
The two of them stared at each other, narrowing their eyes.
"No, actually it was pretty lame and tiresome" Eames finally said.
"Can't be worse than mine," Arthur muttered.
"Excuse me?" Eames raised his eyebrows. "You just said your fight in the hotel was cool. I, on the other hand, was stuck being the bloody old man with a sack over my head. And then I wandered around your boring hotel for ages. And then I was stuck in that horrible snowsuit-"
"Doesn't sound so bad to me," Arthur smirked. "At least I would have been able to pull off the snowsuit."
Eames's jaw dropped and he looked shocked. "Darling, why are you so mean to me?"
"Speak for yourself!" Arthur scoffed. "You're a lot meaner to me."
"Well, I have an excuse because I'm madly in love with you. And by the way, I looked damn adorable in my snowsuit, thank you very much," Eames said. Then he pointed to the same bag again. "Is that it?"
"No, that is not it!" Arthur said through gritted teeth. How come he could be calm in all situations except when they involved Eames?
"You got to be super sleek cool anti-gravity guy," Eames said, pulling playfully on Arthur's tie. "And I didn't get to see it."
For a moment, the true disappointment in Eames's voice made Arthur smile very slightly. Just like that, they seemed to be done with their argument. "Maybe I'll reenact it for you sometime."
Eames perked up. "With sexy time, too?"
"No, no sexy time, Mr. Eames." Arthur said, before finally spotting his bag. He reached out and grabbed the handle. Well, maybe.
