Love is kind...

A/N

This story relates to a previous one shot, "Love is patient." I was going to make this a long time ago but completely forgot, so thanks to 1 for all her reviews, reminding me about it :)

"Hahaha! I win!"

Kiba threw down his cards in frustration. "Damn it."

Lee looked at the blonde jumping up and down while taking the money. "Double or nothing Naruto. If you're so great, wouldn't you want another shot?"

He grinned. "You're on."

Shino turned around to look beyond the roof's edge. "Not a smart move, Naruto."

Chouji chuckled while eating his chips. "Too late now."

A yawn on the other side of the roof. "You guys are being troublesome. Be quiet."

Neji sat beside him, and closed his book. "He's right. It's annoying."

Lee threw in some money. "If anyone should be quiet, it's you. I mean, you two aren't even meant to be here, remember?"

Neji looked at Shikamaru. "I forgot, we really should get going. Tenten isn't the patient type.

His friend chuckled. "Neither is Temari. Don't worry about it."

"We're already ten minutes late, it takes at least twenty minutes to get there."

The lazy ninja sighed. "Fine, let's go."

"In your face, Bushy Brow! I win again!"

Kiba laughed. "That's why I folded. Anyway, you two have fun."

Shino lifted a hand in farewell.

"Troublesome. Don't tell the girls we were here if they ask, okay? See you guys."

"Wouldn't it be better if we hurried up a little?"

Shikamaru kept walking at the same pace. "Relax, Neji," he began. "Being late won't kill you. I should know, it's a habit of mine."

He looked up at the sky. "After all, you know what they say. Love is patient, love is kind."

"It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs."

Shikamaru looked at him. "Yeah, that one. So don't sweat it, I'm sure she'll be understanding."

As they continued walking, the two girls they were supposed to meet could be seen.

Shikamaru looked at Neji. "That whole part about not recording wrongs though, doesn't apply with women. So just tell them we were watching clouds."

The boys emerged from the crowd.

"Almost 40 minutes, that's got to be a new record for you lazy-ass."

"See? Shikamaru whispered. "They never forget."

He smirked. "What, you keep track of when we meet?"

Neji interrupted. "Sorry we're late. Shikamaru and I were watching clouds, and I lost track of time."

Shikamaru and Neji hinted a smile.

"Told you," Temari grinned.

Tenten laughed, and the smile left their faces.

She got up and took Neji's hand. "It doesn't matter, what does is that you eventually showed up."

They continued to walk, leaving the other two by themselves.

"Thank you for being patient," Neji told her.

Tenten looked back at Temari, leaning her head on Shikamaru. She decided to do the same.

"Not patient," Tenten replied sweetly as they continued to walk.

"Just kind enough to let it go."

End.
