Close your eyes,
Dream a dream,
Wave the world good bye,
And move on again.
The world spun so fast that he didn't know where he was. His body ached, especially his head. His arms felt almost detached from his body.
He moaned out in pain as the world continued to spin and wouldn't let up.
But all he could think about was one person. He could see her beautiful eyes and blond hair, the way she laughed, the way she ran. The way she called for him. It was like he could almost here her voice now.
Hold your head high,
Try to breathe,
Wave the world goodbye,
and move on again.
"Daddy!" a voice cried. "Daddy! No-o-o! Daddy!"
"Betsy?" he could hear him self whisper. "Betsy!" His voice sounded so far away.
The pain slowly began to fade away and the dizziness began to let up. Something ran across his hand softly. He slowly opened his eyes but quickly slammed them shut against the bright light. Something rubbed against his hand again and he closed his around it. It closed around his and he immediately knew who it was.
You give a sigh,
You wipe those tears,
Wave the world goodbye,
And move on again.
"Heather?" he whispered.
"You shouldn't be here," a choked voice answered. "You should be with our daughter."
He opened his eyes and blinked against the light once again. At first his vision was blurry, but the blurriness slowly faded to show a face with tears rushing down it. He slowly pulled his hand free of Heather's and reached up to wipe away a tear rushing down her cheek.
"I'm dead?" he whispered.
Heather let out a choked sob and looked away. Her hand folded into her lap and Dell tried to sit up. He found himself in the practice that he worked in. Except this practice was empty. This practice was dull.
Sing a lalabye,
Face your biggest fears,
Wave the world goodbye,
and move on again.
"Am. I. Dead?" Dell demanded.
There was a slow nod of the head from the person sitting next to him. Dell swallowed hard and pushed the hair back from his face. Heather slowly stood and turned towards a hallway. At the end of the hallway was a bright light and she dissapeared into it. She wanted him to follow her.
But all he could think about was Betsy.
"Daddy!" he could hear a voice cry from far away. but he knew that there was nothing he could od to get back to it now. He was dead.
Close your eyes,
He took a deep breath and wiped the tears from his face.
Dream a dream,
He shut his eyes and stood up from the surgical table he lay on.
Wave the world good bye,
He murmured his goodbyes. "Goodbye everyone; Adison; Pete; Violette; Sam; Cooper; Charlotte; Naomi. Goodbye. And goodbye my sweet Betsy. I love you," he whispered.
And move on again.
He walked to the hallway slowly but not before turning and taking one last look at the place he was leaving. The little girl's voice was getting farther and farther away.
He let his feet drag him down through the hallway. His pace quickened every few seconds until he was running towards the light, desperate to be happy again. The light engulfed him and he closed his eyes and breathed a sigh of relief. Dell slowly opened his eyes and smiled.
And then you're free.
