Malik blinked as he felt something dive beneath his robes and clutch his leg tightly. At first he thought it was a child, hiding from an angry merchant, were it not for the screams of, "Stop him, he's an assassin!" or the heavy footfalls of armed guards.
The dai lifted his robes revealing a sheepish Altair clutching his leg. He mentally prayed for patience as the guards, spotting the 6'5" hiding man, surrounded them. "They're Assassins! Kill them!"
Malik fixed that one with a bitter glare, "And how, pray tell, could I possibly be and Assassin?" He gestured towards his absent arm "Last I checked, one would require the use of both arms to fight decently." He slid his venomous look towards another one, "You! Who was it that helped you find a gift for your less than satisfied wife three weeks ago? And you, who was it that supplied you with a book of parchment to replace the one you lost from your master's study?"
The guards shuffled nervously, "We are sorry, sir...but what of the Assassin?"
"What Assassin?" The dai growled. He looked down at Altair, "You think this fool is an Assassin? What are you? Stupid or blind? Get out of my sight! All of you!"
The guards scrambled, leaving Altair alone with a peeved Malik.
"Altair..." The rafiq said dangerously, "You have five seconds to release me and make yourself scarce, lest you find out first hand what a one-armed assassin is fully capable of..."
It took less than two seconds for the eagle to disappear.
