A/N: So... I watched Point of View again and this sort of stood out to me. It's not very long, and I've never tried SG: 1 before, but hopefully it's good!

"This is so hard," Doctor Carter said, letting out a tiny sniffle. "Saying goodbye a second time."

"It's the first time," Jack reminded her gently.

"Not for me." Doctor Carter let out a breath. "You have to understand; he had the same face, the same voice, the same hands." She almost took his, then decided against it.

"Which brings to mind the obvious question," Jack said. Doctor Carter looked at him inquiringly.

"How could you marry such a loser?" His voice held a note of soft teasing, and she gave a small smile, eyes shining.

Jack turned slightly to look at Teal'c and Daniel. He shot a covert glance at the mirror. Daniel raised his eyebrows, not understanding, and Jack made his gesture more pronounced. Comprehension dawned in the doctor's eyes, and he and Teal'c both turned to the mirror. Sam looked at him through the glass and he gave a very slight shrug.

He turned back to Doctor Carter, and suddenly she leaned up to kiss him, taking his head in her hands; they were soft, not hardened by military work. He closed his eyes for a moment, and suddenly he was with his Sam. Kissing his Sam. It was her warm mouth against his, her smell in his nose. She's not your Sam, he told himself.

It was something he'd never imagined before- well, okay, he'd imagined it, but never thought about making those thoughts reality.

After a moment, he opened his eyes and Doctor Carter broke away, breathing a sigh of slight disappointment.

"You're really not him," she said softly, fingers in his hair for one more moment.

"No."

Doctor Carter nodded slowly, stepping back with one more whispered, "thank you," and he nodded gently to her before stepping to the mirror. In a flash of light, he was back in his own reality. Sam smiled slightly at him, sadness and relief and something foreign written in her eyes.

"Good work, sir," she said.

"Thank you, Carter." He smiled back, letting his shoulders relax.

But he still felt the other Sam's lips against his.
