Newspapers and Office Windows

Rose Tyler contemplated recent developments while staring at the zeppelins over the skyline of London when her office door burst open and her mum rushed in. That at least solved the 'Telling Jackie' problem, she thought.

"Young lady! Do you have an explanation for that?" Jackie emphatically pointed at the picture in the paper she was waving. The snapshot showed Rose and a blonde man in a cricket outfit holding hands.

"'Course I have. That's the Doctor."

"What do you mean – that's the Doctor? That can't be the Doctor!"

"He regenerated."

"He – what?" Jackie sputtered.

"Regenerated," Rose repeated calmly.

Her mum mulled this over for some time. "Huh, I suppose it could have been worse. He's... sort of pretty, I think." She had a dreamy look in her eyes.

"Mum!"

"What?"

Suddenly the absurdity of the situation caught up with her and Rose broke into laughter. "You know, I didn't believe him when he told me you hit on him when you first saw him, but it was the absolute truth, wasn't it?"

"Ummm..." Jackie's cheeks matched the colour of a ripe tomato.

As soon as her mum was gone Rose phoned Pete and asked for an office without windows.
