Vernon Ruins the Magic
The Potter's were not the first he had met. Vernon Dursley had never told a soul about that frightful week. It, of course, had been a long time ago. He had been stupid then; he hadn't known which way was up. He had been young and naïve ( obviously because otherwise he wouldn't have gotten mixed up with such freaks to begin with).
"Vernon, your ruining it," said Elle.
"Ruining what precisely?" asked Vernon, raising an eyebrow skeptically.
"The vibrations, mate, the vibrations," said Jimmy.
"What vibrations? I don't feel anything," said Vernon.
"You have to stop thinking, mate. Then you can feel the energy of the forest pulsing through you," said Sun Beam (to this day Vernon had no idea what kind of name that was).
"Can't you hear the trees whispering to you?" asked Elle.
"What rubbish," said Vernon. "The day I want the forests energy 'pulsing' through me is the day that I check myself into the mental ward."
"Vernon, I sense some hesitancy to become one with the universe, mate" said Raphael. "Don't you want to achieve inner-peace?"
"Yes, yes, of course. But all this mumbo jumbo…"
"Mumbo jumbo! These meditations come from the teachings of Merlin himself, as transcribed by Yogi Lipkin of Edinburgh. Now, relax, Vernon," said Jimmy authoritatively. He then pulled a long, thin stick from his pocket and started tracing patterns in the air. Vernon didn't think too much of it until pink sparks started to shoot from the end of the stick.
"Now what—?"
"Relax Vernon," said Sun Beam, who had also pulled out a stick, which was creating the same pink sparks.
Vernon decided to try to relax. He focused his mind, trying to imagine himself at peace, one with the universe. He had nearly achieved that state of being when he let out a great yelp. The ground had started moving around him. The trees with dancing. The grass was singing. The flowers were writing poetry. Vernon let out another yelp and scrambled to his feet.
Distracted, Jimmy and Sun Beam dropped the sticks they were holding, which ended all the movement from the trees, the grass and the flowers. Vernon stared at them all, part baffled, part terrified, and part angry.
"Vernon!" exclaimed Elle. "Stop ruining the magic!"
