Quiet

A Queer as Folk Drabble.

Tag to Episode 108.

It was too old fashioned really, for Brian's taste. It reminded him too much of sitting at the dinner table with his parents and his sister. His mother couldn't cook for shit but she still had dinner ready at five every day.

Justin was an amazing cook. But Brian would never tell him that. Justin had started out as an unwelcome leech in his life, but after earlier that afternoon, Brian couldn't blame him for wanting out. So here was this kid, still in high school, making him jambalaya and setting the dinner table. How quaint.

And Brian wanted to run. But he didn't. He just sat. Silence flowed around them. Not uncomfortable silence. But a simple air of companionship that Brian was almost afraid he would get used to if he stayed.

Justin gave him a smile as he tasted the first spoonful. And Brian gave him a terse 'It's not bad' in reply. But they both understood the lies they told, as well as each other, probably better than anyone ever would.

A/N: Just finished rewatching this episode from the first season and I just love the scene at the end when Brian and Justin are sitting at the dinner table. It is probably one of my favorite scenes in the entire show.

This is the first tag to a show that I have ever written, so I hope it's okay! Review and let me know, yeah?
