Reborn: My Famiglia

He was not a bad man, Reborn reckoned. He was a family man. His name was Gianluca Rodeo, a middle aged happily married man with two kids: a 10 years old daughter and a barely 1 year old newborn son. His daughter is close to my age, noted Reborn, remembering the past 12 years of his life.

Gianluca walked hand in hand with his daughter, as his wife pushed the baby stroller. He happily suggested to let him push the pram, considerate of his wife since she must e tired. But no, his wife firmly rejected his services, something about not knowing how dangerous to push too fast, too strongly, too...

Reborn watched from the rooftop as they walked, big smiles on all of the four faces. Yes, he admitted, Gianluca Rodeo was a good man. And he was his last target.

Reborn prepared the gun, carefully inserting the bullets. He aimed it at the man and waited for him to position himself exactly where Reborn wanted him dead. 3, 2, 1 at the last second the wife got in the way, but it was too late. Reborn had already pulled the trigger. A second later the wife fell to the floor, a bullet in her head, a pool of blood expanding on the cement. Gianluca cried his name's wife, shocked and furious, he pulled out his gun pointing it aimlessly, knowing that for her wife was too late, hoping to at least kill her murderer. The black-haired teen had no time to agonize about killing the wrong target, her adjusted the gun once again and pulled it.

Gianluca Rodeo and his wife lay on the floor, side by side, Gianluca's gun lay on the floor, the stroller fell on one side. Their daughter strayed by his parents, crying their names. Crying for help.

"Mom! Dad! Dad!" her cries remained unheard, she shook the dead bodies of his father, and then his mother, hoping to wake them up. Hoping to wake herself up, after all wasn't this all a bad dream?

Her little brother crawled on the floor, ignorant of everything that just happened. He picked up his father's gun as his parents blood soaked into his clothes, tainting them red.

Reborn lay on the rooftop, listening to the girl's cries. His gun neatly put back in the inner pocket of his suit jacket. He brought his arm to his eyes, staining his jacket sleeve with fresh tears.

He really wasn't a bad man, but he had decided to quit the mafia now that he had a stable family. Once involved in criminal organizations they couldn't back out so easily. That threatened the pledge of omerta'.

"I'm sorry." he muttered. Aah, he thought, they'll grow up to hate me.

He felt better knowing that Gianluca was his last target, afterward, he would flee to Japan, he'd leave the mafia behind. He'd do exactly what his victim had just done, but Reborn knew that they wouldn't send anyone to kill him. They wouldn't, not when he was trained to be the best hitman in the underground organization, not when his parents lead the organization.

Tsuna: The Second Year in Middle School

People are mean.

People are cruel.

People hurt people.

That's why Tsuna hated people.

He hated Haru for leaving. He hated his father for leaving. He hated everyone in school for bullying him. He hated his mother for giving birth to him; for not noticing all the bruises; for having to cover them up so that she won't notice and worry over him.

It was all their fault that he felt like this. It was all their fault that his life was miserable.

Yet it was nobody's fault. He couldn't blame it on anyone. He loved his mother, he knew his father had no other choice and he hung on the hope to see Haru again.

Yet when the pain built up too much for his mind to handle he would cut the flesh on his inner left thigh where the scars would be less visible. The physical pain took his mind away for a while as he watched the blood trickle on the red towel neatly folded below him.

"Tsu-kun~ dinner is ready!" Nana called from the kitchen.

"I'm coming mom!"

Once again, he would fake another smile for his mother.
Now years later, he reflexively covered his scars with his hand as Reborn trailed kisses down his body. He gently pulled the hand away, revealing scars he'd never seen before.

"What's this?" he asked in a soft voice, calming Tsuna's worried heart.

"Just something from a long time ago." his lips curved in a sad smile as his brown hair covered his eyes.

Reborn kissed and licked each and every one of those scars, as if he was licking away the pain.

And he did.
