SMILE!
Matthew Williams had been having a pretty much, more or less average week compared to some people that he knew, but he still had a lot on his mind. Today was his theatre class presentation and as he sat in the theatre, watching the other plays, there was one group in particular whose play really hit close to home, too much even.
It somehow or other reflected everything that had been on his mind for the last couple of days so well that he found himself welling up in his seat. He tried to blink the tears away, but the more he thought of it, the stronger the emotions grew until everything just broke through and he found himself sobbing. He tried stopping himself, tried to quiet down, but the more he tried, the stronger the tears were.
His friend sitting to his left managed to get him up and out of class and they sat outside for a little bit as he tried to calm down.
After a few minutes, he quieted down and thanked his friend. They waited outside until the current presentation ended and then gained their seats.
When Matthew sat down, he picked up his notebook, which he had put on the floor earlier, and found a note on a ripped piece of paper for him. He took the note and it said: "SMILE! The guy next door." with a little arrow at the end.
He looked to his right and found another classmate of his whom he had never spoken to and had ever seen since they were in two different subgroups, but he smiled widely at the silver haired student. It was an incredibly kind and sweet gesture from the other young man to do.
Matthew put his note back in his book for safekeeping and promised himself that he would pin it up on his corkboard when he would get home.
OWARI
And that's what I did too.
Reviews, no matter how short, even if they are anonymous, mean a lot to me and let me know that my writing brings emotions to you readers out there. I see you, the ones who only favourite, the ones who add me to alert, don't think I don't. Even if it's just an exclamation point, it warms my heart.
