Author's note:

as of May 2020, I am currently upgrading this story. And with upgrade I mean, fixing grammar/spelling, adding more scenes and switching the p.o.v. form which the story is told. Currently it's written in 1st p.o.v. from the OC and Jasper (sometimes even 3rd p.o.v.)

I'm finding it rather messy, especially because all of my other stories are written in either 1st p.o.v. or 3rd. Therefore I'm currently changing this story to only one way.

So, if you wish to read the story as it is now, that's fine.

But don't forget to check by the end of June!

When the chapters will be reuploaded.

Hope to hear your thoughts once that has happened :)

Intro:

I do not own Twilight or it's characters! they're all owned by author Stephenie Meyer. I do own Evelyn Swan :)

Chapter one; Arrival

'Forks...'

It seemed like forever since I'd been here.

I was sitting in my car, tapping my fingers on the steering wheel while gazing at the house which belonged to my uncle. Uncle Charlie was my mother's brother and it had been eight years since I last saw him and Bella. Back then he was still married to Renee.

About thirty minutes ha already past and still I sat there, thinking what to say to them once I had worked up enough courage to ring the doorbell.
'Relax Eve…nothing bad will happen. It's your uncle for goodness sake.'

But no thought seemed to give any form of comfort.

A tapping noise right next to me shook me out of my thoughts. Not to mention also scare the living daylights out of me.
"Excuse me, ma'am?" A muffled voice sounded.

I turned my head to the window and saw a gorgeous young man standing there, his knuckles resting against the glass.

"I did not mean to startle you. I was wondering if you are alright?"
He said a bit louder.

Catching my breath, I rolled down the window and leaned forward. "I'm fine, thank you."

The man cocked his head. "May I ask why you have been sitting here for a while? Staring at the Swan's resident?"
His voice sounded absolutely mesmerizing.

I pressed my lips together to keep a snort from leaving my throat. "I'm sorry, I know it must seem rather ridiculous." I stated.

Extending my hand out of the window, I smiled at him. "My name is Evelyn Swan. Charlie Swan, the owner of the residence, is my uncle."

The young man gently grabbed my hand and shook it shortly.

"Good grief! Your hands are freezing." I exclaimed after he released it.

The young man smirked. "Sorry about that, my name is Edward,- Edward Cullen."

"Pleasure to meet you, Edward Cullen. But to answer your question,-" I started, but then shook my head.
"To be honest, between you and me,- in my defence I did not know I was being watched and for the record, I don't normally do this."

Edward smiled. "I hope not. I tend to get overprotective of the people who live in this house. One in particular,-"

Ah that explained, well nothing really, but he must be talking about Isabella. I very much doubted he was referring to uncle Charlie. It was that moment I noticed his eyes, they weren't a normal colour. They looked like two topazes, amber or golden almost.

"I'm sorry, but your eyes, Edward. They're a colour I don't think I've ever seen before."
He seemed a bit taken back by my bluntness. He quickly regained himself and grinned with confidence. "Contacts." He explained and I nodded.

"You were going to tell me why you're waiting out here?" He continued.

I nodded my head into the direction of the house. Edward followed my gaze and then back to me. "I sort of figured that out, Miss Swan. But why are you still in the car?"

A blush crept up my cheeks. "I'm having a hard time deciding how to approach them. It's been a while and I'm not really sure what to do or say once that front door opens up. They don't know I'm here."

Edward Cullen didn't seem to care much about that. "Perhaps it's best to just cross this road and ring the doorbell." He said and without a warning opened the car door.

I stared at his hand holding the opened door, and then scanned his overall appearance. If Isabella knew this man, then surely he meant no harm. Besides if anyone appeared suspicious, it wasn't him by a long shot. I grabbed my keys and stepped out of the car to let Edward escort me to the house.

With a heavy feeling I quickly touched the little golden button next to the door, all the while hoping Charlie would recognise me. Please let me stay.

The door opened revealing a young woman, around 18 years old, smiling brightly at the person next to me. Her brown eyes shifted to mine, observing me quietly.
"Edward." She said. "Who is this woman?"

Before he or I could answer her, someone appeared behind Isabella. It was without a doubt uncle Charlie.

"Evelyn?" Charlie asked rather surprised and his brow furrowed.

"Hello Charlie." I replied quietly.

He moved from behind Isabella and gave me a tight hug followed by two kisses on my cheeks. He still looked baffled. "You should have called." Charlie told me firmly but with kindness. "The house isn't prepared for a visit. What are you doing here?"

"I'm sorry, uncle Charlie. I was planning to call you, but I had to leave rather unexpectedly,-" From the corner of my eye I could see Edward watching me with a strange look on his face.

"Edward?" Isabella nudged him with her elbow.

"Sorry." He smiled at her.

"Bells, you must remember your cousin Evelyn?" Charlie gently ushered his daughter towards me.

I could tell by the look in her eyes that she was searching her memory for a small hint that she had met me before. "It's alright, Isabella. I can't blame you if you don't remember me. It's been almost a decade since we last saw each other." I told her.

As soon as I had said that her expression changed. "No, no,- I do." She suddenly said as she moved closer. "Vaguely, but not completely unfamiliar." She smiled and wrapped her arms around me for a hug.

"Right, how about we all go inside then?" Charlie asked us.

I looked at Isabella who stepped aside to let me in. Before we stepped through the door she turned to her father. "Dad!" She said motioning her head in Edwards's direction.

Charlie cleared his throat before he spoke. "Edward, would you like to come in?"

Edward smiled and nodded politely. "Thank you, Charlie. "

3rd p.o.v.

Edward couldn't help but keep an eye on this Evelyn Swan. From the moment he arrived within a mile of Bella's house he caught a whiff of an unfamiliar scent.

Since the whole James and Victoria ordeal, he was always on full alert. He soon found the origin of the scent. It came from a young woman sitting in a car right across the street of Bella's house . After having watched her for almost half an hour Edward saw no other option than to take the upper hand and head towards the woman.

She smelled familiar. A hint of Bella's scent, which put him a bit at ease, but he was still cautious. At least it proved she was probably connected to Bella's family in some way. Yet something troubled him and after the reunion the Swan's had at the front door, he couldn't help but probe into Evelyn's mind a bit.

However he didn't get the chance to find anything for within that moment she turned her head to him thinking; 'Why is he looking at me like that?'

At least Edward now knew he was able to read her mind. Unlike Bella's, which still frustrated him at times.

Evelyn's p.o.v.

I gathered all my strength and hoped in my heart uncle Charlie would say yes to my proposal or at the very least provide me with an alternative solution.
"It's more than just a visit,-" I finally said after a long pregnant pause. Charlie eyes shifted to Isabella, who in her turn looked back at me.

"I left home for,- personal reasons. And I have no intentions of ever going back to that town." I continued. "So my question is, can I stay here? If only for a little while. I'll be gone before you know it."

My uncle scratched the back of his head. "You know you're always welcome to stay, Eve. But this is all very sudden. This house isn't that big, we don't really have a guestroom, so at the moment all I can offer you is the couch."

I sighed with relief, at least he didn't say no. "That's more than I could hope for."

"Plus, I'd also like to know a bit more on the, I have no intention of going back." Charlie continued. "You didn't kill anybody did you? Or any other criminal activity?"

I widened my eyes. "Uncle Charlie,-"

"Now I don't mean to be judgemental, just that,- considering your mother,-"

Of course, my mother. Charlie's younger and only sibling. I couldn't very much blame him for his caution. Her behaviour and lifestyle was something else entirely, but in this case the apple fell very, very far from the tree.

"I'm not Vivian." I pressed my lips in a tight line.

Charlie's expression changed and he calmly leaned back in his seat. I guess that statement was enough to satisfy him. I turned my head to Isabella. "Would you mind if I stayed here for a while? Just until I find a place of my own?"

She looked at Edward. They must be really close. They both didn't move but it seemed as though Edward helped her decide what to do, simply by exchanging looks. Isabella looked back to me and nodded her head.

"I don't mind." She smiled. "It's just that it's finals this year and I'll have a lot of studying to do…"

"And then you also have Edward." I added for her. She blushed slightly.
"It's okay, Isabella, I understand. I'm glad I can stay, I'll make the couch my new home."

"Just one thing…don't call me Isabella, Bella will do." She smiled.
